I would replace the SSD with a faster one (maybe a Samsung Evo or a WD black)

I would either:
1) Wait on the new coffee lake refresh processors, rumored to be out in less then a month
2) Swap the 8086k for an overclocked 8700k
3) Get the 8086K from the overclocked menu (https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/overclocked-computers/)

I would go for the better thermal paste if overclocking

I would swap the 'pro' HDDs for normal ones

I would wait a week until the reviews are out for the 20 series RTX graphics cards, then consider getting a 2070 or 2080 instead of the 1080, depending on reviews

I would go for less RAM (although I don't have a clue what your visual effects requires in terms of RAM, 64GB is a LOT!) and faster (3200 instead of 3000)

Other people can give better and more detailed advice than me, but they'll need more info - such as detail on what software you plan to use, what screen you want to pair it with, any other uses (like gaming etc.)

The sofware that I will use is Houdini FX and NukeX, it is not for gaming.

Looking at the minimum specs for RAM Houdini FX needs:
'8 GB or higher and 64GB strongly recommended for fluid simulations'

https://www.sidefx.com/Support/system-requirements/

So I guess it probably does need the 64GB (sorry, I did say I didn't have a clue!)

They say 8GB because it is the MINIMUM necessary. I need minimum 32Gb, but as they say for fluid recommend more. Thanks you very much, but i think 64Gb is what I need. :winkiss:
