Do my builds run Ubuntu (latest build)

A friend asked me to recommend a laptop. As a happy user of a laptop from pcspecialist for many years I wasted no time and went straight about looking on the site. I have settled on two appropriate builds for thier needs. The only thing I do not know is if there is any issue installing and running Ubuntu (or other linux builds) as they have requested Linux as their preferred OS.

Build pdf's attached

Thanks

You'll get better answers if you include the specs inline, people don't want to fuss about opening pdfs. I've copied the specs here for you. :)

They'll probably run Linux fine, you can check through the forums to see what people have said when using Linux on various Clevo chassis.

Just to check, you're aware those CPUs are very basic indeed. The i5 with twice as many cores and threads as the i3 is about £30 more. Considering you're paying over £100 to go from a 2 core Pentium to a 2 core i3, it would seem worth another £30 to go for the i5.

Ubuntu should be fine on those, I have not tried it on those models but have run various Linux distros, mainly Ubuntu, on five PCS laptops. Totally agree with Oussebon about going for the i5 CPU, for just a few quid more you get a miles better processor.

I am on my second Lafite, both running Ubuntu just fine (now 18.04). I usually get 8GB RAM but this is probably overkill and find it using no more than 2 or 3GB at any time. They came with windows installed but I just wiped it without activating. Hope all goes well for you.
