Hi, i am new to pc gaming and have no clue what to get. My aim is to play flight simulator on reasonable settings. My budget is around 1000 pounds but i could go 200 over it. Any advice on what to get would be greatly appreciated.

What simulator are you playing? (e.g. Microsoft Flight Simulator X?) Are you playing other games too?

Do you need a monitor (or KB+M) within the budget? If you already have a monitor, what resolution and refresh rate is it?

I want to play Microsoft Flight Simulator X. I do not have a monitor but it can be outside of the budget. What would u recommend?

If you can hold off a bit, Intel are expected to release new CPUs in October (quite likely early October) that will be a bit better than the current offerings. Higher frequencies (which FSX likes) and more physical cores. The replacements are expected to be positioned similarly to the current gen for pricing.

This stretches your budget, but in a bid to get the fastest CPU possible which can matter a lot for FSX:

Waiting for the next gen would be ideal, however.

Don't forget you also really want a joystick for a flight simulator. I presume you don't already have one?

Honestly no. The last time I bought a joystick it was a first generation Microsoft force feedback one that plugged into the midi port of my sound card of all things.
