Help with duel monitor setup

Hello all

I have just received my new pc today from PC specialist and I am trying to set the pc up with a duel monitor display

I have a ASUS® PRIME A320M-K: Micro-ATX, AM4, USB 3.0, 6GB/s motherboard and a 2GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GT 1030 - DVI, HDMI graphics card

The issue is I can only get 1 monitor working I think this is due to my other HDMI monitor been plugged into the motherboard and the working one plugged into my graphics card I have had a search on youtube and they have advised that the motherboard graphics could been turned off so I have went into the BIOS as the advise to switch it on also but I dont have any option for this could anyone help and point me in the right direction or am i best just getting a DP to HDMI lead and run both the monitors from the graphics card alone ?

Many Thanks
Phil

Motherboard graphics are automatically disabled when a dgpu is in the system, you don't have to do anything. You use the outputs on the graphics card.

Once you've got the second monitor attached, you need to configure windows to see it, have you done that?

Hi, Thanks for the help on this the setup i have is:
2 samsung monitors both HDMI connections

1 is connected to the graphics card that is working no problem,

the other is connected to the Motherboard HDMI output, ( this is the one that is not working i am not getting any signal ) I have tried to go into the windows settings to change to a duel monitor setup but i just get a message that says that there is no connection detected, This made me think of the BIOS but I am unable to find the option in the BIOS also,

I do have a DP connection also on the Graphics card as well as the HDMI so I am thinking that it might be easier to get a DP to HDMI lead and then run both the monitors from the graphics card and nothing from the motherboard

Any ideas what you think??

What CPU do you have? A lot of AMD CPUs don't have onboard graphics.

What's your full spec?

so I am thinking that it might be easier to get a DP to HDMI lead and then run both the monitors from the graphics card and nothing from the motherboard
Do this.

As said before, on board graphics don’t work when you have a dgpu installed, all your outputs are from the dgpu.

On some Intel CPUs it's certainly possible to use onboard graphics alongside the dGPU. I kept a link to this topic as I was, tbf, blinded by my own awesomeness at finding a viable workaround for the OP *cough*
https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?59080-Audio-Video-out-of-Sync-on-second-monitor
Obviously that's irrelevant if the OP's CPU doesn't even have onboard graphics.

But I think the DP to HDMI adapter cable for £5 is the way to play this anyway. This one has done right by me so far: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Rankie-DisplayPort-Cable-Resolution-Ready/dp/B00Z05JMKO

Thanks mate, I have went that way and order the cable getting tomorrow as a prime member,

Here is my spec if that helps any further :

Motherboard ASUS® PRIME A320M-K: Micro-ATX, AM4, USB 3.0, 6GB/s
Memory (RAM) 8GB Corsair VENGEANCE DDR4 2400MHz (2 x 4GB)
Graphics Card 2GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GT 1030 - DVI, HDMI

So that CPU doesn't have onboard graphics at all. The motherboard only has video outputs for use with things like AMD APUs which do. An APU is what AMD calls entry-level CPUs with slightly beefier than average onboard graphics.

The irony here is that an AMD APU like the Ryzen 5 2400G is more or less the same as an R5 1400 and a GT 1030 rolled into one unit and would have been ~£50 cheaper.

Thanks for the info this, I have just went down the route of the dp to hdmi lead from Amazon should be arriving today and hopefully that will sort out the second monitor,

This is my first PC desktop for a long time so I just wanted a starter pc that I can slowly upgrade

Cheers for everyone’s help on this

Ok, I have received my DP to HDMI lead today from Amazon, I have plugged it into the DP port on my graphics card ( only have 2 connections the HDMI and the DP ) and the second monitor is still not showing I have went into windows for the display settings and when i click the "Multiple Display" setting I get the message " Didn't detect another display "

Any help with this one as I am lost now as what to do ?

cheers for all the help so far

If you unplug both monitors and then plug your 2nd monitor into the HDMI port, does it work?

If you plug it in with the DP to HDMI cable, so that it's the only monitor connected to the PC, does it work?
