Video editing and gaming.

Good evening,

My partner is looking for a new PC in the £600-£1000 range that can cope with both gaming and video editing. Must have a card reader. The budget is not firm but would like to keep the cost as low as possible without compromising on the quality.

Thanks in advance.

Which packs as many cores and threads for the CPU as possible into the budget while still leaving room for a fairly powerful graphics card and an SSD.

Not sure on the video editing but I will get something that will run well.

Only thing missing is the Card reader. Does this case have space for one and would the internal or external one be better?

Thanks

PCS's internal card reader only fits certain cases and I wouldn't recommend any of the cases that it fits.

They sell an external (USB) card reader that does SD and MicroSD formats, or you can source your own external card reader that handles other formats from elsewhere. e.g. Amazon.

If you prefer an internal card reader, you could source and install your own, probably with an adapter for one of the 5.25" (DVD drive) bays. Should you go down this road and get a USB 3 internal card reader, I would suggest the X470 Gigabyte Ultra Gaming motherboard as it has a 2nd USB 3 internal header which you'd want for connecting the internal USB 3 card reader (all motherboards have 1 internal USB 3 header, which is used for the case's front USB ports).

I would pretty much agree with the specification Oussebon has put forwards here. The only minor amendment I always tend to add is silver warranty (£5 and puts your collect and return period up to 1 year for a little extra peace of mind). Other than that you would struggle to find a better balanced specification for the budget.

True, I wouldn't buy a PC without it

That's not a sales line - I genuinely wouldn't after I had to make use of it on this PC and on a laptop, and shudder to think what the carriage costs for a 13kg PC would have been.
