Hi Polostar,

My number one suggestion here would be an SSD at least big enough for Windows. What kind of thing are you doing with the machine? If you are going to be gaming I would definitely say that you could even drop down to 16GB of RAM comfortably if you have already maxed out your budget. Storage is one of the most frequently overlooked areas when it comes to specifying a PC so this is a fairly common problem. If you have the budget for an SSD for windows and then a separate one for games then your games will definitely appreciate the extra speed.

I hope I have helped, be sure to give us a ring if you want to walk through your specification at all.

Agreed with the above RE: reducing RAM to 16gb (there's very little difference in gaming performance between 8gb and 16gb - more than 16gb is just a waste for gaming) and about getting an SSD.

The build is extremely expensive, as it is custom liquid cooled, probably around £1000 more expensive than it needs to be.

If you're happy spending that kind of money on the aesthetics etc then that's a choice for you, but I would strongly suggest holding off until October when Intel's new CPUs are being released.

Also consider the Hight kit rather than Exteme as you're only going for a single GPU.

If you're gaming, what monitor are you gaming on? Is it only that cheap Samsung in the spec? If you already have a better one, what is it?

What's your budget, and what are you using the system for? Will help give more meaningful feedback :)

What are you using the PC for and what monitor are you pairing it with for gaming?

Impossible to give any sensible comments on a PC system without knowing this.

I think that buying a PC of this spec for 1080p 60hz gaming is a waste of money of and hardware, and that if your budget is limited so that you can't buy the monitor you want now then you're basically cheating yourself out of a good gaming experience. You should expect more out of £3k.

It would be a lot better to not go for a custom liquid system but get a system based around a closed loop water cooler.

Combined with other savings, this would let you buy the £1000 ROG monitor today:

If you're not already aware, the liquid series PCS need to be periodically drained, flushed out, and refilled. So they are more work.

I changed the GPU to the RTX 2080 as the 1080 ti is out of stock. The 2080 performs the same as a 1080 ti or better in current games, and has some additional features for new technologies coming to games that the 1080 ti doesn't have.
