Recoil II - Upgradable?

Hi Guys,
Really considering a new Recoil II. Love the look of it and the performance reviews iv seen are promising. One thing though which I'm wondering about is upgrading it down the line in terms of graphics cards.
Does anyone know if there would be sufficient space in the case to, for example, upgrade from a gtx 1060 to a gtx 1070?
Maybe it's a silly question but any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

I'm pretty certain that GPUs in PCS laptops are soldered in and not upgradable. You'd best check directly with PCS on that though.

Laptops aren't like desktops. Most of them have CPUs and GPUs that are soldered on and not upgradable.

Some have GPUs in MXM format - however, that doesn't necessarily mean the laptop can handle other GPUs. It may not be able to provide enough power, and future generations may not be compatible, the system may not be designed to handle the heat from X model you want to add in, and the BIOS may not support it either.

Furthermore, mobile MXM GPUs are a lot more expensive than desktop ones. A desktop GTX 1080 can be had for ~£450 (£400 in some cases). A laptop MXM one is closer to £1000.

So even if you bought a Recoil with a 1060 and could upgrade it (and you absolutely cannot upgrade it) to a 1070 MXM for £600 - why not just buy a Proteus that has a 1070 off the bat for less than £200 more. Okay the Recoil is thinner, but if you're happy spending Recoil + £600 for thinner and a GTX 1070 there might be some other brands out there with extortionate price tags offering this.

And external GPU enclosures wouldn't necessarily give the full performance of the GPU either.

TL;DR - never assume you will be able to upgrade a laptop's GPU. You can't in most laptops, and even where you can the value proposition is often poor.

Hi there,

the guys were right, in most laptops it's soldered and can't be upgraded in hindsight. This is different for the many laptops we offer so it makes absolutely sense to give us a quick ring and ask for whichever laptops interests you.
A recoil for example isn't upgradable when it comes to the GPU.
