Optimus Laptop Problems

Just posting this to see if there are any easy fixes before I am forced to send it back.

I Bought an this Optimus laptop in August.

The problems i am having with it are very low sound. I have everything on 100% but some you tube clips I can hardly hear them. Same goes for Amazon movies the sound is very low. The laptop has a sticker saying Sound Blaster 5 Cinema on it but I have been unable to see any settings for this.

Mouse jumps as I click on it. If I am selecting something and I have the mouse on what I want to select, as I press the mouse button most of the time it will jump up and I have selected the one above it. I have tried the touchpad on various settings.

Error messages. every now and again I will get a blue windows error screen saying it needs to re-start with either error message irql not less or equal or system service exception. It will also just re-start too. Started it up this morning went on the net and the next thing I had a blank screen with the PC Specialist logo on it, and I had to log on again like I had re-started it.

Caps lock (this does my head in) I didn't think at the time of buying the laptop that it does not have a caps lock light. It is really annoying when I am logging into somewhere with a password, and you cannot see the characters, I don't know if I have caps lock on or not. I have to open another tab just to type something in so I can see if caps lock is on or not. A message will appear on screen, on some sites to say that I have put caps lock on or off, but these are only a few sites.

Anyone have any ideas on whether I should mess about and try and fix these issues or send it back? I don't really want to be without my laptop for a week or so.

What version of windows?

Has this always been the case or just recently occurred?

It was ordered with windows 10 installed.

I don't use any driver software.

I have the paid versions of Malwarebytes, AVG internet security and AVG pc tuneup.

Hi Johfut,

so sorry to hear that there are issues with your laptop.

Did you try to deinstall and then reinstall your audio drivers?
You can find the necessary files in your customer account on our website, the section is called 'tech support' and there is a button called 'downloads'.
Select the order and the OS and should get a list of all the files and drivers.

Could you send us the minidumps so we can look at the bluescreens?
Open the file explorer, go to C: drive , go to Windows, go to Minidump.
Copy the latest 5 – 10 files to your desktop and attach to an email to [email protected] with your order number as the subject.

If you're running the real-time antivirus engine in both of these that will be a problem. Having two antivirus engines active at the same time is well known to cause all sorts of problems. You should disable the real-time protection in one of those tools.

and AVG pc tuneup.

In general it's unwise to use these kinds of tune-up tools, the garbage cleaning aspects of them is useful but many other 'tune-up' features are snake-oil, some can even be potentially harmful. I don't know whether this tool includes a registry cleaner (most do) but if it does I'd advise strongly against using it - I've seen countless PC problems caused by registry cleaners but I've never yet seen a problem cured by a registry clean.

I just received laptop for the second time after faulty touchpad nothing was done same problem mouse jumps when trying to select something.. did you find a fix? im about to cancel my contract and return this damn laptop. im still inside 14days since i received my laptop so i might just return it if you dont reply with a fix.

Please don't hijack another person's thread. If you're having issues start you own thread with full details of your problem and we'll try to help.

As I've said above, the OP's use of two antivirus engines is a known problem and tune-up tools in general are to be avoided.
