Laptop Advice/queries

Hey Guys,
Before we start, thanks in advance for the support. Anything iv posted on these forums has always gotten a great response from you guys!
Anyway, I'm looking for a work/Gaming Pc and I'm leaning towards the recoil, spec below.
The only thing stopping me is the graphics card, as I would love to get a rig which includes a GTX1070 as I believe this would be more future proof.
I know there's other options for this but iv found issues with each:

Proteus: Heard there has been performance/heating issues and also the screen provided with this, I have heard the colour quality/matching isn't great with NTSC 45%.

Defiance: Iv seen lots of issues on the forums about overheating and I'm looking to stay clear unless the issues have been resolved.

Octane: Over budget.

I guess my question boils down to two things:
Is the GTX1060 future proof enough? I'm happy Gaming at 1060P and maintaining 30+fps. I know it's hard to say, but is there anyway of estimating whether this will be possible in say 3 Years with the then AAA Titles?

And finally, am I missing another alternative to the rigs iv mentioned? Or is there anything planned in the future which may meet my requirements?

Once again, Your feedback is extremely appreciated!
And just to note, I require 32Gb RAM to handle large projects in Revit at work. My current setup has 16gb ram and is currently just holding steady.

There's no way to guarantee that at very high settings. But the 1060 should be more than capable of running demanding games for the next 3+ years, as long as you manage the settings. It's capable of playing modern titles somewhere from high-ultra depending on the game.

I haven't made a study of the Proteus but I think I only saw one thread where there were temperature issues. It's a Quanta NL5C so you can always look up info on that chassis. If you're desperate for a 1070 over a 1060 it would be, for me, a safer buy over the Defiance. You can always exercise your right of return if you get it and find you don't like it.

The screen should be fine though presumably a TN panel. The Vyper has a similar screen (not sure if actually the same model) and that was considered ok by Vortez: https://www.vortez.net/articles_pages/pc_specialist_vyper_15_review,1.html

You can always contact PCS and ask what screen they are using, then look up that screen. It may have featured in other laptops and have had reviews in magazines.

The spec seems fine. I's probably buy the dead pixel guarantee.

+1 to response above
And also, the next generation of GPUs is around the corner and it's better to wait. The GTX 1070 is around 50% faster than the 1060, but that's not a game changer for being "future proof". Instead of 24FPS in heavier games, you'll get 36FPS. Better wait for newer hardware

Oussebon, thanks so much for the detailed response!!
Partly, that aint a bad plan, how far away are the next gen GPU's?

Early next year at the earliest probably. Also it's debatable what they're going to bring. See: https://www.notebookcheck.net/Nvidia-RTX-2000-series-Mobility-GPU-lineup-leaked.337912.0.html
Although bear in mind this is reporting some material from WCCFTech, which would be like the BBC running a story on UFO sightings by meths drinkers. So take with certain quantities of salt.

Also the desktop GPUs offered basically the same performance per £, but with new RTX features justifying most of the price hike. RTX features which aren't yet adopted by games.

Power consumption is another factor, and if the new gen of cards managed to achieve similar performance for much lower power consumption than the previous gen, that would be very exciting for the laptop market. But in the desktop space at least, they don't. Not really.

So new gen mobile GPUs don't seem terribly likely this side of Christmas and when they do arrive, nobody's holding out any real expectation of a performance leap of the kind we saw going from Maxwell to Pascal I think?
