Hi everyone,

Would a 6850k i7 overclocked to 4.2ghz bottleneck a 2080 in gaming? I game at 3440x1440.

Many thanks

It's a poor processor outdone by the 8th Gen i7 and bear in mind there's the 9th gen just about to be released.

But no, it wouldn't bottleneck the card. It's just extremely bad value and outdated.

I think the OP already owns one and is asking whether a 2080 ti would be a valid upgrade.

It should be fine.

That is true I do currently have that CPU. I should of said, my fault. Appreciate both of the replies however.

Your right though spyder tracks it does seem to get bad rep as a chip in that range. Does the job though so far :)

I'll have a look through the link aswell. Thanks

Sorry, mate, didn’t mean to diss your build, assumed you were looking at putting it in a new system.

It’ll compliment the 2080 or 2080 ti fine.

Don't worry, no offence taken I appreciate everyone's help on the forum. The forums have always been helpful when I've had questions or tech issues.
