This rig will primarily be used for gaming.
I will be adding a GTX970 to this build and eventually over time upgrade the card to maybe a 1080 or higher.
I will be using a 144hz 1080p monitor. Once i upgrade the 970 i'd like to look at a 144hz 1440p monitor.

My priorities are performance in general, framerate in games and cooling. In regards to cooling i wouldn't want to go for water cooling because i want minimal maintenance.

I hope i'm going in the right direction with this rig, please advice me if i'm not. Cheers.

I will be using a GTX970 and eventually over time swap it with a 1080. I'll be using a 144hx 1080p monitor and eventually upgrade it to 1440p 144hz monitor.

My priorities with this rig are performance, framerates and cooling (I don't want to use water cooling because i want minimal hardware management)
I don't care too much about graphical performance so i'm happy with "medium - high" settings.

Also, what is your current system? And when you are planning your GPU/monitor upgrade roughly?

Chances are you should not buy a new PC but rather just buy a new GPU and monitor for your existing PC.

My budget is £1,000 max.
My previous computer is a really old ****ty laptop that's not worth mentioning. I got the monitor from my boyfriend and i bought the GTX970 in 'like-new' condition ready for this.
I mainly play final fantasy 14.

What monitor is it? What make and model?

How much did you spend on your 970 out of interest? And have you been able to test it to make sure it works yet? (e.g. in a friend's PC)?

Intel CPUs are super expensive at the moment. And the performance difference versus AMD Ryzen 2000 CPUs with the kinds of graphics cards and resolutions you're looking at will be somewhere between a few % and 0. However, an AMD R5 2600x despite giving basically the same gaming performance performance is £2000 cheaper, which saves you money for nice-to-haves that will make a difference to your day-to-day PC usage, like a larger SSD, or futureproof you a bit more like 16gb of fast RAM.

Featuring an SSD that isn't tiny, and is very fast, a larger HDD, and a motherboard that is cheaper than the TUF but still sports USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type A. Also switched to RGB LEDs as why limit yourself to one colour. The stock AMD coolers are fine.

Oh wow.
Thank you so much. The GTX970 works fine, i've dusted it out and watched it run.
You've saved me a lot of money on this rig and get more out of it.
