Canon Pixma iP4600 printer

I have been using this 9-year old printer on a Windows 10 Home Edition 64-bit PC without any problems both before and after upgrading to Windows 10. I now have a brand-new custom built PC from PC Specialist with the same operating system and I cannot get the printer to work. Canon do not have a Windows 10 driver for this printer but say that the driver for Windows 8.1 might work. It does not! Does anyone have any other advice (other than buying a new printer)?
I can't remember if I did anything to make the printer work when I upgraded from W7 to W10.

Some people seem to find that Windows 8.1 drivers can be made to work.

Apols if you've tried these already, but without knowing what you have done exactly I'll list everything I see:

1) Making sure you restart the PC after installing the drivers (..lol)

2) make sure the drivers are 64 bit drivers, not 32 bit

3) compatibility mode and admin privileges when installing drivers:
To install the drivers in compatibility mode, refer to this suggestion:

a. Right click on setup file.
b. Click on Properties.
c. Click on Compatibility tab.
d. Put a check mark on Run this program in compatibility mode for.
e. Select the supported operating system.
f. Put a check mark on Run this program as an administrator under Privilege Level.

4) Someone else found a slightly different driver version on the Canadian site. I had a quick look and the file sizes and version numbers are still different on different countries' websites. So perhaps try UK / USA / Canada sites?

5) See if the Windows 10 drivers for similar devices like the ip4700 work?

You said it was working on an older PC after you upgraded to Windows 10, so what version of Windows did you upgrade from? Assuming you did an upgrade in place (rather than a clean install of Windows 10) then whatever driver you were using on the original OS will have been used in the upgraded Windows 10. If you can find a copy of that driver it should work....

Thanks for that. Can you please tell me where to look for a driver? I upgraded from W7.

Go to the Canon website, locate your printer and download the Windows 7 driver. Since that was working after the Windows 10 upgrade it should work now. It's worth a try anyway....

I have tried all the suggestions without success and, even if I had succeeded, I still had the same problem with my scanner so I have ordered a new all-in-one printer. Thanks for all the help.
