Are you gaming on that: ASUS VP228HE 21.5" GAMING MONITOR ? or do you have another monitor?

Yes, I thought of using it when the PC arrives. I dont have any other monitor. Is there anything wrong with that kind of monitor?

Currently I only have an HP laptop with i5-7200U, 256 SSD, and Integrated graphics. I could not play any game higher than PUBG mobile emulator. With this game, the screen lags sometimes and because of it I get killed in the game. So I finally decided to get a PC for me to play high-end games like PUBG, Call of Duty, Fortnite, etc. However, I'm not that knowledgeable with regard to choosing the good specs and which spec complements well with another. So I hope someone could give me some feedback about the above specs I've chosen for my new PC

The PC you're ordering is best suited to 1440p high refresh gaming or 4k gaming. Ideally with a decent monitor with gsync - those start at ~£450 for either 1440p or 4k gsync.

The PC is completely wasted on a 1080p 60hz monitor - you should either buy a cheaper PC and not waste as much cash, or buy a better monitor that will let you harness the kind of performance your PC has to offer.

One can 'futureproof' to some extent, but the above is well beyond the point of diminishing returns for that.

What's your budget for the PC and the monitor?

Edit I deleted your other topic as it's the same issue, and best to keep discussion on a spec in 1 place

I've seen your edit. If you suggest your budget for the PC and the monitor combined, we could suggest a more balanced option. :)

Also, a better monitor (ideally a high refresh monitor) can give a competitive advantage in shooters too, if those are the games you're most into.

Thanks a lot for your feedback. I get what you mean. I have already ordered the PC including that monitor for around £2000 (but that monitor is only £95, lol). I think I will have to follow your recommendation to buy a 1440p monitor for now to harness the full potential of my PC. My budget for now is only £200-300 for the monitor. Hope there's one I can get with that price range. Will just upgrade to 4K in future

You can amend the order, or cancel it. And I would suggest doing so.

If amending the order:

- drop the GTX 2080 to the GTX 1070 ti. It's almost as powerful for £400 cheaper.

- Switch the CPU to the i7 8700k as it's a bit better and not much more expensive

- switch the SSD to the WD Black which is faster but the same price

- get the H100x cooler as this is better

- you could drop the wifi card and get the AORUS Master which has built in wifi

- the standard thermal paste that comes with the H100x is decent

You didn't say what case you had chosen? What case are you using?

e.g.

The eagle-eyed among you will have noticed I just talked garbage there. The GTX 1070 ti is almost as powerful as the 1080, not the 2080. The 2080 will be ~30%(?) better than a 1080.

However, the 1070 ti is more than adequate for 1440p gaming, so my advice to save £400 on the GPU and get a better monitor stands. It's still a colossal upgrade over the OP's laptop!

I really appreciate your suggestions. I have amended the order and changed the motherboard to Aorus Master and removed the wireless PCIe card. Also changed the liquid cooler to Corsair H100x and the monitor to 1440p. However, for the GPU, I have retained the 2080 for future-proofing maybe (but I really like its specs).

These things are already a big leap from my HP i5-7200U laptop with only integrated graphics. Lol!

What monitor? What do you like about the 2080's specs?Spending double on a gpu with maybe 30pc performance gains is a pior way to futureproof

I have ordered Dell S2716DG yesterday. I really like the specs (1440p, 144hz, G-Sync). Everything's in there and it's much cheaper than other monitors of the same specs. Excited to see these stuff soon! If you dont mind, do you have any idea how long will it take for PCS to dispatch my order?

The monitor should pair well with the system. PCS seem to estimate 6-8 working days and from what I've seen they're quite good at getting orders out in the run up to Christmas so unless there's an unforeseen problem it should be with you well before then

I agree. I've read some stuff, and they say the 2080 renders frame rates significantly higher than the 1080ti on 1440p and 4k benchmarks. 4k resolution would be a good future project then :)

Oh well, if that is so, it would be an early Christmas gift then. Thanks a lot for all your help :)

Hey you have built a quite powerful PC, the only thing i want to say that if you have some spare cash upgrade your monitor. As your gaming build is enough powerful to handle 2k and 4K with good FPS.
