Hi all,

I'm looking to buy a new desktop that will last a long time.
As said I mostly do video /picture editing, and probably a bit of gaming. I'm not very experienced in pc building so would like your opinions on this build (sorry it's Dutch)

It's a bit too expensive for my taste (2500+€)but maybe I can save on some items. I'm also looking for a nice IPS 4k monitor (I would love something affordable that looks like the 5k iMac)

Hello,

We can offer you better advice if you post details of the programs and games you will use. Some video editing programs are more dependent on a CPU, whereas others can use the GPU and you could spend less on the CPU.

For gaming the Threadripper certainly isn't a good choice. If you will do mostly video editing and only a little gaming it would be OK, but there is probably a better choice here.

Your PSU is far more than you need, particularly if you then switch to something like the Ryzen 7 2000 series CPU. A 650W would save you some money.

If the motherboard supports it a M.2 SATA module rather than a SSD is a better option. It will be much faster and doesn't cost much more.

Again depending on the video editing programs you use, you might not need 32GB of RAM. Generally RAM is helpful when video editing but for gaming 16GB is plenty. If you did mostly gaming you might be happy to put up with slightly slower render times on the occasions where you are editing video.

A few things to consider.
