Good evening all,

I have some strange behaviour that I hope someone can help me with.

My laptop won't boot at all.

When powering on the laptop fires up (nothing on screen dead black) hdd light flashes like it's being read, the fans come on 100% for a few seconds maybe a minute then the machine turns off.

The power light flashes orange during this time.

I've tried the following.

Starting without battery just power
Removed CMOS Battery and tried starting
re seated ram and tried started
tried different combos of ram chips and slots and restarting
removed GFX card and restarted
Reseated CPU and heatsinks and restarted

All to no avail.

Am I right in thinking that this might be fried mother board?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Ben.

When you reseated the heatsinks did you repaste?

Will it boot a DVD? (Try the Windows install disk or a downloaded Linux install disk).

What happened prior to it not booting?

Do you have any idea what the temperatures were just before it failed to boot?

You say you've tried different combos of RAM sticks, are you sure they're all compatible? Try it with just one RAM stick (that you know is compatible).

What is the full spec of the laptop? Post the full spec from the PCS order page.

Hi thanks for your reply and sorry for the delayed response I've been away.

This machine doesn't have a dvd drive.

Prior to not booting it was running fine, shutdown (maybe hibernate or sleep) to go to bed, next day won't start.

Don't know about the temps.

All RAM I tried is compatible.

Hi,

I have the same issue with my laptop P775DM3-G.

It started yesterday after playing a few games.

I suspect the CPU or MB has stopped working. Not sure if it was overheating - laptop behavior was normal prior with fans running at moderate speed.

I'm sending it back for an inspection and repairs.
I'll post again once I have a diagnosis.

Cheers,
Ed

Hello,
I have exactly the same issue. The machine starts with black screen, nothing appears, after 1 minute shutdown. Powers on, 1 minute, powers off, aso...
I set the overclocking to auto though. Could this be the problem?

The report for my laptop showed that the Video Card developed a fault and had to be replaced.

Since my model does not have an integrated video card, it would explain why there was no boot screen at all.

I hope this helps.

Yes, you need to disable overclock.

You shouldn’t overclock a laptop. They can’t handle it and WILL overheat.

Hi, it did not overheat, fans were running normally. Overclock was set to auto. I watched a 4K movie yesterday evening, shut down, and today, nothing.
But... How to reset the CMOS? Since the screen stays black, num-lock nor caps-lock work.
I have exactly the same model as Eduard, just 64GB iso 16 GB, and 4K screen iso HD. Worked 1 day, yesterday.
It is the P775DM3-G from M-tech. A very expensive machine. The previous owner never used it, only installed Ubuntu. I installed win10. The machine is brand new, not one scratch nor dust particle.
This never happened to me, and I have had over 30 different laptops.
How did Bencullen resolve this?

regards
Johan

Hi, it did not overheat, fans were running normally.
That's not mutually exclusive, if for instance the fans didn't spin up as they ought to have done.

Also even if it's not overheating (yet), that doesn't stop the OC being sufficiently unstable to have caused problems with the system.

It is the P775DM3-G from M-tech.

As the forums belong to PC Specialist, we can't advise on systems from other companies. You could try contacting M-Tech since it is their system.

Resetting the CMOS usually involves disconnecting all power, removing the main battery, and then removing the CMOS battery.

They may be able to supply you with a user/service manual if you need help getting into that, or you might find one online.

Hello,

ALL Clevo machines : reset the Cmos: don't open the machine. Hold Fn+D while rebooting.
I read the manual, it is on page 144 of 316...
