Noob questions

Hi,

Recently bought the vortex minerva from PC world.

The PC came with 3 disks - PRIME H310 SERIES 2 Chipset Support DVD, Tenda Wireless N150&300 PCI Express Adapter, and the ZOTAC Graphics card.

I am very incompetent when it comes to this stuff :D , so any advice on what I am suppose to do with each of these would and what their purpose is would be much appreciated. Apologies for my inability figure this out myself!

Shouldn’t need to do anything and they’ll be outdated now anyway. PC should be fully set up already and if you need drivers in the future you can download them from the web.

Make sure you plug in any Wi-Fi antenna if it has Wi-Fi, they should be in the box.

Welcome to the forums :)

You don't need to do anything with them, other than keep them safe.

They are drivers for the motherboard, the wifi card, and the graphics card respectively. PCS will have already installed these before shipping the PC to PC World for you to buy :) You would only use them if you were reinstalling Windows or had some other problem that needed drivers reinstalling as a troubleshooting method.

In all likelihood, by the time you come to reinstall Windows in the future, there will be more up to date drivers (certainly for the GPU) available from the manufacturer websites. But the discs are worth keeping safe just in case.

You may also be able to register your PC with PC Specialist. This should, I believe, give you access to a downloads section where you can download copies of necessary drivers in case you ever need those, as well as access to shopping for upgrades and spare parts.

I'm not sure exactly how PCS do the registration thing (there was a link I had but it apparently doesn't work any more) so you could drop them an email to ask https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/contact-us/
You may want to include your PCS order number - which I think will be a 7-8 digit number on a white sticker on the back of the PC...

Thanks very much for the quick replies and the welcome!

It does have wifi, however the wifi has been continuously dropping despite it being flawless on my laptop/phone. There are two antenna's on the back which I presume are the wifi antenna's?

I did just register my PC!

Thanks again for the replies!

Can you post a picture of the back of the PC?

Well I can't help you with the wifi but you've plugged the monitor into the wrong place. You want to plug it into the GPU, not the motherboard.

So that'll sort out your gaming performance at least... :)

(the arrows there are pointing to the DVI, but your graphics card will have an HDMI slot somewhere too)
