Gaming is not going to well.

Here are the specs of the PC:

AOC freesync 32in monitor
PSU ax1200i
Gigabyte Aorus pro z390
Intel 9700k
32gb 3200 ram
AMD vega 64 strix ROG
m2 500gb evo 970

So I put this together just recently, I did a fresh install of windows 10, I was trying to put my original win7 on but due to the z390 having problems supporting windows 7, I needed to purchase win10.

Everything seemed fine, so I installed the latest drivers for everything and even updated the bios to the most recent firmware, I installed some games, Fortnite, COD, GTA, and Pacman via steam ect.

I tried to play Fortnite but the problem I had was that I keep getting a black screen. I tried everything, I disabled onboard graphics, and changed the hdmi lead to a different port on my GPU, it seemed to fix the problem, but then once Fortnite loaded I had to click on the window to get the sound working as the sound was off until I did this.

Then my monitor ended up with a dozen coloured lines down, you could see the screen normally apart from, but then back to the same issue, black screen every few seconds, I switched to an old monitor I had a 27inch LG 3d monitor and it seemed to play the games no problem so far.

What is the cause for the black screen? is it GPU related? is it monitor related? I also swopped the daisy chain on the GPU to make sure it was getting enough power.

I am totally confused right now, I will try fix my monitor later, any advice would be more than welcome.

Should I exchange the GPU for nvidia and get a new monitor? would this fix my problem? is the vega 64 worth it?

Sorry if this is not the right place to post, and thanks in advance.

Really sorry, but these forums are for support for PC Specialist systems in the main and so we can't advise on self builds or competitor builds. You may want to check out Tom's Hardware which is an open forum.

Don't let that put you off these forums though, they're a good source of learning, and maybe searching around on your particular issue may yield some results.

Sorry can't help more.

Well that reply definitely confused me, "so we can't advise on self builds or competitor builds" I don't follow, competitor builds? or self builds? I don't think you can be competing if you have built your own PC, its for yourself, I could compete with myself but I would have to beat myself up as I am not good at this.

So as you've built the PC yourself and not bought it from PCS, we can't offer advise on resolving build issues.

It's like calling up Dell for advice on a self built computer, they wouldn't be able to help, no difference here I'm afraid.

Agh so this place is also in competition with the other retailers? I thought this was just a PC forum, is there a shop website I can browse? I might end up being a customer, thats if I need a new monitor and GPU to solve my issue.

At the top just go to PC Specilist Home.

Do note that PCSpecialist sell fully built custom PCs, they are not a component reseller - unless you are already a customer in which case you can buy some upgrades as separate components

As Rakk has said, PCS sell custom built PCs and laptops and since they pay for these fora I'm sure you can appreciate that they'd prefer we not offer advice that allows people not to buy their products. :)

If you are interested in a PCS build now, or in the future, the PCS Homepage is the place to start. You find a 'configurator' which lets you spec up exactly what you want. The configurator is intelligent and won't allow you to select components that won't work together. You'll also see the price you'll pay updated constantly as you change the spec, so you can get exactly what your budget can stand.

There are some very knowledge and experienced people on here who will gladly offer you all the help and advice you need to get the best spec your budget can afford and which will exactly meet your needs.

Oh, and welcome to the fora! :)

The only generic things I can think to suggest are whether a) it happens with other games or just Fortnite, and b) whether it might be an adaptive sync / refresh rate issue.

And does the monitor definitely support the resolution/refresh rate / freesync over HDMI or only via DP? Maybe try DP to rule out that and also the HDMI cable itself as an issue.
