Advice on new laptop

Hi Ladies and Gents,

I'm looking at getting a laptop and need some advice.

It will be used for:

Streaming (Netflix, Sky etc.)
Course work
Gaming
Browsing

I ideally wanted to spend about £800 but I'm always willing to pay a bit more for something very good, rather than decent. I want it to be fast in dealing with all of the above. I hate things that aren't instant or pretty much instant.

Any advice would be appreciated. I have put one together below for what I think would be what I'm looking for?

PCS's options at 17.3" are very limited in this budget range.

The GTX 1050 is pretty much the weakest actual gaming GPU available, and is much slower than even the next one up, the 1050 ti.

The SSD is small and slow, and 16gb RAM is arguably not necessary, and is also one of the few components you can upgrade down the line (unlike CPU and GPU).

If 15.6" is viable then I'd suggest the Vyper chassis. And if you use the laptop in one place most of the time, you can always use it with an external monitor anyway.

Thanks for your advice. Why is the 17.3" be so limited. I was thinking this when I was looking. I suppose I could go with a 15.6". I would mainly be playing FM19 and my girlfriend would probably play The Sims 4 but I would rather have as powerful machine as possible.

Only thing wrong with the one you suggested is I hate mechanical keyboards. I bought one with my last rig 6 years ago at the advice of a friend and hate it.

Cheers

Chris

The spec is a lot more powerful than the Cosmos. Much more expensive too, though there isn't a cheaper option that isn't the Cosmos. There's a lot more choice of the 15.6" laptops, I guess as they must be more popular.

I'd say again that if you are using the laptop in one place most of the time, getting a 15.6" laptop and an external monitor might be better all round. It's more portable, and you'll have a bigger screen for use in your main place.

If you really do take it around a lot and 17.3" is fine for portability, then the spec above is sound.

I'd go with 1 x 8gb 2666MHz RAM as it's faster, which can help in some games, and only a few quid more.
