You can do much, much better for your budget.

The CPU and motherboard combination you're going for is expensive versus the performance you get from it. it would be better to go with an AMD Ryzen system and invest the savings into the GPU, and maybe other elements of the system too.

Total War Kingdoms is based on the same engine as Warhammer 1 and 2, so we can look at that for an idea of CPU performance:

So any modern CPU, Intel or AMD, is going to give decent performance, above 60fps, and in many cases not much different to the alternatives. Whereas Total War is very demanding on the GPU and you really need something in the order of an RTX 2060 to push for the higher settings:

And that applies to a lot of other games too.

The storage arrangement also doesn't make much sense (970 Evo 500gb + 860 Evo 500gb). With a limited budget a single SSD + a 1-2TB HDD makes a lot more sense.


I'd suggest you look at the MAGMA RTX spec on this page: https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/reviews/ which sports an R7 2700x and an RTX 2060 for £1300

which will still perform way better than your original spec, essentially due to the CPUs having similar performance and the RTX 2060 being a lot better, with SSDs not mattering to framerate.
