Octane VI spec for CAD & FEA with RTX GPUs

Hi,

Following a previous post (which I canÂ’t figure out how to link), please see the spec below.

Main software would be:

-AutoCAD
-Revit
-SketchUp
-Vray
-RSTAB
-Excel

How do the new RTX cards stack up performance vs cost against each other?

Is the 2060 sufficient or should I be looking at 2070 (+£300) or 2080 (+£500)?

I read the 2060 is on par with a 1070ti... (I was looking at 1070 before the RTXÂ’s came out)

Also, are the cards in the 15.6” Octane VI laptop or desktop variant?

+ I might consider the 4k screen also.

Any thoughts / advice would be welcome.

Thanks in advance.

Cannot say how the GPUs compare but they are laptop cards, only the Octane CPUs are desk top. I do not think a 4k screen is really worth it at 15.6".

I see Excel on your list, unless you already have a copy you could try Libre or Open Office, free ware programs that are as good as the paid for versions. Similarly, once your 90-day Bullguard has run out, Avast is a good free anti-virus, although I hear the Windows defender, or whatever it is called, is decent as well.

If I was you I'd just bite the bullet and go straight for the RTX2080, I did that and I must say I am highly impressed.
