What exactly does 'Gone into Administration' mean? Are they bust basically? Or am i off in saying that?

I think it means that they're looking for somebody to buy the company because it's gone bankrupt?

I may be wrong.. Google will tell you, im just too tired to get a definition ;)

can someone please explain to me what this mesh thing is about?

Basically it means that Mesh have gone bust, and will cease to trade - I dunno whether they can come back from this or not, I know very little about such things - only what I find by Googling :)

Is MESH still trading, its website is still up and working and I can configure a PC seems a bit for a company thats in Administration, I read the pcadvisor stuff that said some component distributor bought up a lot of stuff.

Just curious.

A company called PC Peripherals bought the name, so essentially the company MESH no longer exists, but the name does, as PC Peripherals now trade under the name MESH Computers.

So as far as purchasing goes, you probably can still configure a PC on the site and buy it, but one does wonder at this point (if not before of course!)...why would you? :D

My thoughts entirely, also the config options are not that great.

OTH, I do still have a MESH pc though that is still working in my office, it did have some issues though over its lifetime.

I have got this from MESH ... today ... How weird ....

I am not laughing at what happened to them, but if you do a quick surfing through their site, you will see:

We have a diverse range of processors .. then you click on the drop down menu to choose from and great !!! There they are ... just 3 for you to choose from

either the whole net shutdown or that site is real slow, I bet they spammed a whole lot of people who are now trying to load their website. I gave up loading it after a few secs. [rollinglaugh]

I'd been with Mesh for about 7 years having bought 2 Desktop computers from them, I had trouble early on with both computers the first one arrived with a huge dent down the side & noone through their customer services could be bothered to explain how it might of happened, got it replaced 2 weeks later, again their Technical support is a joke unless you like being put on hold while the technictian goes to ask his supervisor for help. They stopped their Finance package as well, which is what i used to use, i never knew of PCS until just before christmas & i'm glad i found them, especially price wise & great customer service.
My computer is on order, should be with me in the next fortnight hopefully :D

Mesh .. that brings back memories.

Ordered a new mesh pc back in the day (pre 2000) ... waited and waited and waited .. i think it was about 2 months later an insurance investigator turned up at my flat to check if i had a mesh pc in my front room (some chance....).. never found out what happened and cant remember if i got the money back it was that long ago so sort of got the feeling way back then that mesh weren't the boys to use again. Think i ended up with a Dotlink pc (anyone remember them?) after that i just built my own until i had enough of doing that....

Got my pc from pcs just before xmas .. very pleased with it!! and excellent service .. how times have (sort of) changed.....

Will be glad to be rid of my old Mesh PC

My current desktop is unfortunately a Mesh. I only arrived at a decision to buy one after my previous PC assemblers had also gone into administration! After starting (as so many of us did) with an Amstrad PC1512, I had Dan's which were excellent until they went bust, then I had Evesham's which were also excellent until they went bust. Unfortunately I then chose a Mesh. This was delivered faulty, which I had to sort out as the Mesh technical 'service' people I tried to talk to were hopeless (and clueless) and I have had years of different faults to fix and numerous irritations from the machine and that dreadful Vista OS which I had to repair and reinstall several times. It is still a horror.

I chose all these PC makers for the ability to reconfigure the PC I bought to a much higher specification than recommended and for the claimed service packages available. I have always bought a greatly revised configuration and paid more than twice the price of the standard system on offer, including the Amstrad and all the laptops I have bought as well.

I am now about to decide which configuration I will chose from pcspecialist as they are the first, and possibly the only, maker who can currently supply the configuration I want from a replacement PC. This will allow me, at last, to confine my Mesh to PC Hell where it has long been meant to be. (It will be the first computer of any type that I have not given away to a friend or to a local community group. I wouldn't inflict it on anyone else.) I hope the pcspecialist system I chose is everything its customers claim it to be.

I acknowledge that the current Mesh company is not the one that sold me the dud I have, and had such appalling dimwits on 'technical support', but bad experiences are difficult to ignore and bad reputations stick.
