Just a quick note for anyone considering a 15.6" Vortex II model!

You may have noticed that the 17.3" Vortex II has now sold out..well we also have very low stock levels on the 15.6" Vortex II GTX 580M and HD 6990M graphics cards and once these are gone they will be end-of-life!

For anyone holding off waiting for any new chassis releases please consider the following:

1. GTX 670M/GTX 675M are simply re-branded from existing GPUs. There will not be any huge performance gains here.
2. Some high end Ivy Bridge CPUs are not available for many months (perhaps June) and therefore the current Sandy bridge CPUs may be better suited for you.

On a more positive note we have plenty of stock on GTX 560M :)

any chance of the gtx560 version dropping in price due to the 8th April release of the Vortex III?

If there was then it would probably be a dum idea for them to confirm this publicly as most people would hold off until a price drop! Also, I doubt there will be a price drop as demand is quite high for PCSpecialist products.

Does this mean that there wont be any Ivy Bridge CPUs available on 8th April, or only just the high end ones? Are you allowed to be more specific? as i am holding off getting the vortexII for IVY.

To quote from the other thread

Whilst our new chassis will support Ivy Bridge processors initially they will be offered with Sandy bridge processors until these are oficially launched by Intel.

Although its difficult to be sure due to NDA's and no-one saying much as far as I understand it the FIRST Ivybridge CPUS are out in june, Clevo however are out of stock of the old chassis and unwilling to manufacture new old stock so are manufacturing new ivybridge chassis but putting sandybridge procs in them in the meantime so they have something to sell until june.

Only Sandy Bridge processors will be available on 8th April. Ivy Bridge are not launched for some times after this date. Thats is why I'm suggesting anyone who does not want to wait at least 1 - 2 months for the new processors to be launched to consider a 15.6" Vortex II.

Just a quick note to state that we have now reduced the very last few 15.6" Vortex II wih the 6990M graphics cards. Given that this card performs similar to a GTX 675M but is now around £100 cheaper this represents a one time special offer for those lucky few...:D

As someone who has a Vortex II with 6990M currently being built by you guys, this is a bit gutting. Paid 1247 for a model now costing 1141 before I've even received mine. Extra money that could have gone on an SSD. A bit frustrating.

A Vortex III 17.3" with the same spec as mine (675M GTX over 580M GTX) is over £500 cheaper. Although it does make me feel alittle gutted I have been able to enjkoy it for 5 months and price drops on superceded technology is a given.

I completely agree with you. There is an enormous difference though between an item you've had 5 months use of and an item I've not yet received. It's the equivalent of picking something up in a shop and just as it's gone through the till, but before you've had the chance to use it, they knock the price off by £100.

Give us a call and we'll see what we can do for you :)

likewise not impressed receiving mine just after the vortex 3 launch to see the price drop...
I spent over £2000 in good faith, I too would have invested it in additional equipment.

Appreciate the response, PCS. The item has since been dispatched (very cunning of you haha) and should be with me tomorrow, looking forward to receiving it. Very busy day ahead at work tomorrow so I doubt I'll be able to call. Will take the weekend to enjoy the thing and then will give you a call on Monday, which will no doubt take the form of effusive praise and satisfaction with the notebook and your service, followed by me griping about the price issue and the 106 pound difference with the 6990M price drop. Not a fan of complaining, but I could have souped it up more or (more likely) gone for some extras like a decent gaming mouse/headset/cooler. Anyway, as I said, thanks for the response.
