Hi
Does anyone have any thoughts on this spec , my intentions for use are mainly ML using TensorFlow via conda in both python & R plus some occasional gaming.
My concern is that none of the Defiance models seem to require any optane memory and I'm also curious about clevo overclocking ability.

Kind Regards

What need do you have for optane memory if you’re running an ssd?

And what requirements do you have for overclocking? Remember this is a laptop and overclocking is not recommended in any shape or form.

I'm 100% in support of this. IMO Optane is unnecessary with the sort of fast SSD you have selected.

If you search these fora you'll find a couple of threads where users complain of the cooling on the Defiance V (one is here) and PCS have announced that Clevo have produced a new BIOS to address these issues - it seem to be an undervolting solution. Whilst I agree with SpyderTracks that no laptop is designed to be overclocked you absolutely must not try to overclock the Definace V....

Thanks Spyder, although I was referring to the Defiance series itself because you can be using not only an ssd which is not immutable imho but also myriad of other media.

Time costs in processing 30MM+ data sets, but yes I appreciate your point although is not the HK class cpu designed to be overclocked, I'm now giving serious thought to reconfiguring if I'm unable to take advantage of the i9 cpu !
Thanks

You won’t be able to overclock in any laptop, the cooling just isn’t powerful enough to cope with the high temps, and the Mobo and cpu would fry.
