17.3" Optimus V - Fans going berserk?

Hey Guys, I bought a 17.3" Optimus V build a year and a half ago, and up until a few months ago I've had no issues.

Recently, when I'm gaming the fans will go at full speed as if the computer is overheating, but SpeedFan says the maximum temp in the laptop at the time is around 60 degrees.

I can't manually set fan speeds as no program seems to pick up the fans and allow me to manually set them

Any idea why this is happening at all?

May be time for a clean out of dust etc. Have you had a look under the covers? There may be dust buildup by the fans, or in the ventilation tracks.

I don't know why I didn't think of that. I'm really concious about it on my main PC by never thought of it on my laptop >_<

Cleaned it out and it seems to be behaving itself now. Time will tell. Cheers!
