Hi All

Posted on here a couple of times, was going to order a while back but decided to wait till the new nvidia cards have been released on everyone's advice (the wait is killing me!)
Last thread got merged into an old unrelated thread please do not merge

Thanks @Nursemorph
Realised my SSD is 1TB, so will change the primary from a 1TB to the EVO 500GB M2 for the OS and my existing 1TB for games.
Suggestions all make sense, will adjust to those. Comes out at just under £1500 which is great.

Will i need any extra case fans?
Assume the 3600XT will meet performance needs for games?

Hi All

Might be a bit soon for this but wondering if you have any suggestions regarding the CPU cooler for the 5600X and is 650w enough?

this is the current spec, which will be swapped for 3070 & 5600X.

praying there are no long delays come 5th nov!

thanks

Looks like the 5600X comes with a Wraith Stealth cooler, which is the smallest of AMD's three stock coolers (for reference, the 3600X came with a Wraith Spire, which is the next step up). The built-in cooler is probably fine for gaming use as the AMD ones have generally been ok in the past - but if you're planning on playing games which would stress the CPU over long periods then a better cooler would probably be worthwhile.

In terms of power supply, I believe 650W is the minimum suggested PSU for the 3070, so your system should work. However general consensus is that overspeccing the PSU is worthwhile, so given the relatively small cost increase (£9) personally I'd go for minimum 750W. The 850W is a bigger stretch, so up to you and your budget if you want to go that extra step further.

If you're going for 750w, it's worth paying extra for the RMx variant, fully modular and semi passive so there's less wires trailing around and the fan only kicks in when it's under load.

thanks both, in that case, 750 RMx is fine, any suggestions for CPU cooler?
i want decent performance (won't be overclocking) but keen on keeping the noise down.

H100i admittedly very good but seems a tad overkill and was hoping to not drop 100 on a cooler if i didnt have to.
How does the PCS frostflow 240 compare in performance and volume?

Also considering switching the COOLERMASTER MASTERCASE H500 for the NZXT H511, any suggestions on which is better?
I like the NZXT for it's smaller size but the H500 just looks cool.

ok thanks @Nursemorph , I'll stick with the H500, re. the cooler if the frostflow is going to be similar performance and noise i'll prob go for the frostflow.
Reviews online for the Coolermaster suggest it can be quite noisy.
Very tempted by the CORSAIR H100X /W QUIET FANS but quite expensive.

Never had rgb in the past but fancy it this time, but RGB on the CPU, RAM and case fans, is a light strip overkill?

dont want a night club in the case, just some nice lighting

I’ve got all of the above, and you don’t have to have the RGB spewing out loads of rainbow unicorn vomit. I tend to set mine to a single colour to cast a nice warming glow across my desk when I’m working. And then crank up the effects when I fancy some high octane gaming 😁
