Hi,

Be great to hear some thoughts on my protentional setup.
Any improvements or something doesn't look right will be great!

Thanks in advance!
Pete
Hey Pete! As Martin as asked, it'd be great if you're able to share the spec with us in the correct format (along with that green link at the bottom!). As well as that, it'd be super useful to know your budget, what monitors will be paired up with the build and a bit more info about your editing needs!

Once we have this info, we'd be happy to assist!

Hopefully should be able see the link now. Main editing needs is 4k editing in Adobe P. No lag the better haha!

Brilliant, thanks for the updated info!

Based on your needs, the build below is what I'd recommend. Intel currently have the performance crown, especially in CPU bound tasks, so I'd recommend Intel over AMD currently, not to mention the 3900X has been a previous gen chip for a while now. I've based most of my choices of Puget System's Recommendations for Premiere Pro. This video is also a good watch. If you have any questions, ask away!

Hi,

Thankyou very much for the info!
I have taken on board with using the Intel and its a great idea! And I love the case!
Would you think it will be worth going for the NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3060 Ti instead? I'd happily go for it if you think so.

Thanks again,
Pete

The 3060Ti would be more suited to 1440p 144Hz I believe your monitor is locked to 60Hz which the 3060 should be able to handle fine

As per the the Puget Systems site, it seems that the 3060 actually performs better for the 3060TI for video editing (I'd assume down to the 4GB of extra VRAM) then as Stevey has said, for your monitor, the 3060 will be ample for your gaming needs too.

Hi,

I have purchased the follow build £2200. Mainly for video editing on premiere pro, but some slight gaming too nothing serious.
Do you think it will hold up to 4k editing and intensive photoshop photo editing?
The case I have chosen is the Corsair 4000D White case, with the 3 pack Corsair LL120 LL series fans also in white.
Monitor - BenQ SW270C 27 Inch
Be nice to hear your thoughts, and maybe what I could of improved on!
Thanks,

Was there anything wrong with @JUNI0R suggestion above? It's a much better configuration, especially with regards to storage. Your setup will bottleneck performance.

Not at all! I took on board pretty much all his suggestions. As you can see. And for storage, I use external hard drives for specific projects. The files won't stay on the computer.
Why would it bottle neck?

Thanks:)

The layout for internal drives as @JUNI0R has suggested is optimal for editing.

You want a dedicated cache drive which you configure in the suite, this will greatly improve render performance. Then a dedicated live project directory. Then an OS drive. External for storage is fine but not for live files.

The PSU will limit you for upgrades as future GPUs are going to use substantially more power and that will be the first upgrade required noatter what you configure now.

Windows 10 would still be suggested until they get windows 11 ready for primetime.

Okay I think I understand you.
So basically, adding an additional M.2 SSD Drive like the one @JUNI0R recommended (1TB INTEL® 670p M.2 NVMe ) would make the performance better? This would be the live project directory, while the 1TB Samsung 870 QVO 2.5" SSD I have selected will be for the cache drive.

I don't plan on upgrading the GPU so PSU I have selected seemed fine for what I needed?

Thanks for your time,
😄

You could happily reduce this to a 500Gb, but yes.

The GPU will be very poor in a few years, if you want any kind of performance half way through the lifetime of the build, it's the first upgrade on any PC. It's up to you, but not upgrading it seems particularly odd especially for editing.

Okay thanks! GPU's get worse over time then?

Sticking to the Samsung theme, instead of the intel, could I use the same M.2 as my OS system? Just a larger storage one. For example 1TB SAMSUNG 980 PRO M.2, PCIe NVMe. Or would this bring an issue?

Software becomes more powerful with updates and GPU's are the same, with each release they have new technologies which improve stuff like hardware acceleration.

Bear in mind, your needs will change also over the 7 - 10 year lifetime of the build. You want to be prepared for allowing any upgrade you may wish in the future. The last thing you want is to needlessly have to spend a further £130 on a suitable PSU and perform a complete system rebuild to fit it just for the sake of saving £20 or whatever it is now.

Yeah, that would be even better.

That makes complete sense. Very good useful point. Will look into what I can do about upgrading to the order.
Yeah, that would be even better.
Likewise with adding in additional M.2 SSD.
Thanks very much for the help! Would you say there is any other components which might need tweaking or am I good?

Finally, going back to the original question; how do you feel the performance will be for the 4k editing?
