Hi all,
Looking at something like the spec below. I already have an RTX 2080 Graphics card.

I mostly play GTA5, red redemption 2, grid, need for speed, COD and I use Oculus Rift.

My systems is showing its age, still running an AMD bulldozer.

Any advice appreciated. Thanks in advance

What's the Optane module for here? You adding an existing HDD into the build or something?

At 4k, you are going to be heavily GPU bound. There'd be no meaningful difference between an R6 3600 and an i9 9900KS apart from the ~£400-£500 hole in your wallet.

Also, a £1600 build with slow RAM - eek! :)

Avoid the V200 case, it's not good for airflow, as is the case with many cheaper RGB cases. Try the iCUE 220T?

Got a 4tb drive will my games installed on it, not sure how the optane module works. wich ram do you suggest?
I just picked the bottom cpu , dont no anything about the different type TBH.
£1600 is ball park figure but id like most bang for my buck

Yeah my gpu is at 100% most of the time lol

wich case is that from the picture?

If your GPU is at 100%, that means it's what is limiting your performance.

Having the GPU at 100% is perfectly normal in gaming - it's what you'd expect, as less usually means either the CPU is bottlenecking it, or you bought a more powerful/expensive GPU than you need.

But that does mean that upgrading the CPU won't add much to performance, because it's not what is limiting how the game runs.

This gives a crude but fair idea of relative CPU performance at 4k for gaming:
relative-performance-games-38410-2160.png

(and that's benchmarked on a 2080 ti - the difference on your 2080 will be even smaller).

As you can see, once you get past the really weak ones, there's almost no difference...

So I don't think you should spend £1600 on a new PC.

If you're comfortable doing so, you can replace your CPU, motherboard, and RAM, with a new CPU, mobo, and RAM for ~£400. Moving from to a Ryzen 5 3600 CPU should clear any periodic bottlenecks from your Faildozer at 4k.

Or if you don't want to DIY it, something like:

I just don't see it being worth £700+ more for the i9 on a very expensive mobo for 4k.

Looks great.

Just to reiterate, you may not see much or any performance difference from your old system in many situations, if it was the GPU alone limiting performance (which will be the case at 4k high settings, quite often).

No point buying 2 extra case fans. As in, literally no point, the case has 3 front fan mounts, 2 top, 1 rear. The 3 front are taken up with the stock RGB fans, the 2 top are taken up with your 240mm cooler, so there's only 1 vacant one at the rear. If you want an extra fan, just get 1 :)

The 760p SSD is more than fine. You could save money on the SX6000. Or you could be an early adopter and get a Corsair MP600 and have a PCIe 4.0 SSD. Games won't care what SSD you have though. :)

For just gaming, no point to the R9 CPUs, they're for people who stream or video edit for a living. R7 is generously more than enough especially for 4k.

V200 case has poor airflow, and is a bit budget level for this kind of system. Are you more interested in a budget case, or an RGB case?

Instead of the QVO from the Storage menu, go with the SX6000 from the M.2 SSD Drive menu

H60 cooler is a bit pointless as there are better options for performance or value either side of it. H100x would be a great pairing with an R7 3700x

Revised and much cheaper with the R7 instead of the R9

Looks good - the R7 3800x isn't really worth it over the R7 3700x. The numbers on the configurator make it look faster, but in reality it isn't meaningfully faster. So you could happily shave £50 off there if you wanted.

The case is a good choice

And it's nice the 3600MHz RAM is not as expensive as it used to be :)

I suspect the airflow in the PCS SR series cases isn't great, looking at the design. Little room for the air to get in at the front.
