4K Monitor

Windows, mostly the text icons and anything windows has to scale, 4K video seems fine but colours and washed out on a £600 panel northing like it was in pc world before i bought the same model.

using displays port and tried another cable.

I think @davidbrockway is talking about the kind of 'screen door' effect you sometimes get on certain monitors. I've seen it on certain cheap 24" IPS panels. And I think I noticed it on either that Acer or a similar monitor (the AOC counterpart) when I got a little too close to it. But it wasn't an issue unless I stuffed my face into the thing.

But other monitors no matter how close I get I don't see the same thing.

@Oussebon Yes, this is not cheap at all and i spoke to one guy and acer are saying it an IPS but it's a TN panel, I am confused at what I do here.

It's screen is terrible.. no matter what i edit.

I think it's best to return it and then got another model but then I have no clue what model to get?

I would definitely return that monitor anyway for a few reasons:

1: it’s not worth anywhere near £600, the same model is £479 on other sites.

2: for that price there are much better options on the market like the ones we’ve already linked.

3: seriously! Stop buying stuff from PCWorld! It’s poor prices for outdated technology.

There's no mention in that thread that it's a TN panel rather than an IPS one, there's just one guy mentioning that he has a TN version, there are quite a few models in the XB1 range from TN to IPS. Nevertheless though, if the quality is that bad, obviously send it back.

Thank for the confirmation, would you recommend sending the PC back too and get one buillt direct from pc specalist. It all cost me more than £1900 in the last few days.

beteween the pc and monitor.

I would personally, you'd get a lot more for your money. Unfortunately we can't do a direct comparison because they don't list the parts used, but we can estimate the following:

2400MHz RAM is slow by today's standards
Intel 9700 would be better matched by an AMD 3600 if it's just for gaming. Intel's current offerings just don't match up to their AMD counterparts.
We can guess they've used an entry level motherboard as they almost always do.
Very basic 300mbs N class wifi card, which is really poor by todays standards, we should be looking at more like 1.3Gbs AC or wifi 6
Very basic case which will hamper airflow.

If you give are able to return it, I certainly would. It's not just the poor value, but also the ongoing support, PCWorld aren't very well known for good customer support.

Get it returned, then come back to the forum and just give us a maximum budget and use case and we can advise on something a lot better for the same money, plus you'll get a much better support package direct with PCS.

Acer's monitor model names are confusing as heck. They're all just letters and numbers that don't mean anything. Like, even more than most computer components are...

As for what to get next, you could look into:
Gigabyte AORUS AD27QD-EK
LG 27GL850-B

This is a more rounded build. You could go for a cheaper case too, as the Blackout is expensive at £120. Define S is £50 less.

Curry's refused to refund court battle has began. It seems the have swapped something as in the store the issue went and now home it's back like I was told I had to wait 2 Horus after they fixed it to make sure it fixed more like swap the hardware back.

I did wonder if it would be an issue with the PC rather than the monitor as you had the same issue on the 1080p one.

You have 14 days to return it, no matter what, you don't have to have a reason and they have to take it back by law. Standard 14 day returns law in the UK

Edit, I'm wrong, as it was from a store and not online, it has to be faulty for them to take it back: https://www.which.co.uk/consumer-rights/advice/i-want-to-return-my-goods-what-are-my-rights

Apparently not I returned my iPhone within 14 days you can't Curry's seem to have their own law.

I know what they did they changed something and the monitor and then put the old things back in.
They refused unless I can prove it faulty I have tried.legal action will begin tomorrow and in 15 days the bank can charge it back.

Complaint have gone in and Curry's will get back to me soon. Honestly worse than any retailer I have purchased from.

I will have to cough up the funds now to take legal action not letting em win
