What software are you using?

Premiere Pro tends to prefer Nvidia GPUs over AMD's at a given price bracket, so the 1660 would likely be a better bet over the RX 580, for instance. Even with the VRAM difference.

A WD Black M.2 NVMe SSD is only ~£15 more than an 860 Evo at 500gb capacities, so ditch the Evo for the WD Black.

Always the fastest RAM you can reasonably get with a Ryzen CPU, so at least 3000MHz 2x16gb.

How urgent is the purchase? AMD's Zen 2 CPUs could be worth waiting for (releasing for sale 7th July)

Hi!

Premiere Pro yep.

Thanks that's the exact sort of advice I was after, will switch in a 1660.

Worth it for a 1660ti do you think? Looking at some benchmarks it seems to be marginally quicker but unsure if necessary for a video build.

The purchase isn't particularly urgent, I'll probably be waiting 1-2 months in all honesty. Like to take my time with these things as much as possible so will bear the new AMD's in mind.

Just finally re. the case and mobo - these are the things I have the least knowledge of - do the ones I've chosen look okay?

Cheers

I might have suggested a different case e,.g. Fractal Focus.

If you're not buying for a month or two I'd suggest not planning the spec much before then. Since no point splitting hairs over a 1660 vs 1660 ti and bang for buck if the prices have changed, new hardware comes out, etc etc :)

Okay cool thanks for the help, think I have a better idea of what to go for now.

Been a long time since I spec'd a desktop, think the last one I did had an i5-2500k in it...
