5900x and my issue with water-cooling.

The last 2 items I need to decide on for my pc build is the CPU cooler and the case.

I'll probably decide on the case eventually but I'm really concerned about the cooling. I've never used water-cooling before and know nothing about it.
I really do not want to go water-cooling because I fear the water will leak into the system or I'll make a mistake when refilling the water.
I'm not sure on the 3 non water-cooling products available so asking for advice here on what I would really need to keep the CPU cool.

I'll be using Adobe premiere Pro and after effects and will be gaming at 1440p

And besides, all the liquid coolers are closed loop. They’re a sealed unit and completely maintenance free (aside from dusting the radiator every now and again).

Thanks. Speed the RAM up to at least 3200MHz, AMD chips love fast memory. And then you’ll need the H115i RGB Platinum or H115i RGB Pro XT as your cooler. Like I said, no maintenance required and they’re extremely reliable. You’ll be able to drop the extra case fans too. Other than than, it’s looking good 🙂👍

Let us know what case you’re thinking of when you’re ready to pull the trigger on the order by updating the thread again and we’ll advise on if it’s a good choice or not.

That's the one. And, no, for an All-In-One (AIO) cooler, there is nothing to do liquid wise...you are probably thinking of an open-loop system which has the big reservoir, drain pipe size tubes etc. An AIO is a completely self-contained system....my last PC had one in and, over the 8 years it was running (and was still running when the system was replaced), all I ever did was dust the radiator when I dusted the rest of the tower....mostly I'd forget it was even there.

As to longevity, that system should last you for 10 years hopefully yes, assuming your uses don't change too much...may want a new GPU at some point if things change considerably.

thats actually amazing! i had no idea. i was put off a while ago because my friend had a water cooler and it leaked and ruined his pc haha so ever looked into it. yeah the 1060 is good for now and the 850W PSU will give me a lot of room to upgrade to a 5080 or 6080 in the future maybe. thanks for all the advice everyone!

Doesn't really impact on case decision....the radiator/fans for the cooler will be mounted on the underside of the roof so it expels the warm air outwards.....so, with your case selection, you will get the 3 front fans and the 2 cooler fans all lit up brighter than the North Star

Only some cases can fit the H115i though.

haha! cool yeah, ive been looking at case reviews and they were talking about the lack of airflow for cases that had closed cases at the front in the way of the fans. but yeah water-cooling will be at the top and i wont need the extra airflow because i wont be using a fan cooler.

You would, however, as pointed out by Spyder above, need to choose a different case....the Define 7 is excellent for quiteness, the Mastercase H500M if you want "bling". Depends how much budget is available really

For the extra few quid, well worth taking the 850w. It'll make you a bit more future-proof

Windows Home all the way, Pro adds little to no benefit for the average user.

I'm not sure if you do actually get a DVD drive with it or if the picture is an illustrative one to show that it has drive bays...but a DVD drive is cheap enough to get if needed

Yeah, the case description doesn't hint at it being supplied with a drive. Might be worth @ollpon using live chat to double check and adding it on if they want one...

Improves ventilation more than you would think.
