A new laptop - but not sure which - can you help?

Hello,

As the title suggests - looking for a new laptop. When I've looked on other websites, just got confused by the choice and I don't know if I can fulfill exactly what I'd like in any off the shelf laptop I'd buy so I thought I'd try here.

I want a laptop that's not huge, but works well. I use my laptop for internet, a blog, a little bit of photoshop (tho not an expert by any means so that would be sort of limited), writing and a little bit of games use (but tends to be Sims if anything, I am interested in other games but I tend to not have the time i want to do that so its essential by any means) I want a decent backlit keyboard and for it to be a speedy computer with a decent screen (not too fussed on resolutions as long as its not too fuzzy) and I'd love good sound from it as I'm partially deaf.

Decent storage would be great too, if you can help in any way and point me in the direction of models and the type of thing I should be looking for that would be great. if the above isn't enough information let me know and happy to be more specific tho not the most technically minded!

Thank you in advance

The GTX 1050 is a decent enough entry-level gaming GPU, and is a lot more powerful than previous generation offerings. Since you can't upgrade a laptop's GPU it makes sense to get something with at least a little bit of headroom. Things like the older 950M will find themselves below minimum requirements for new games before long (I think it might even be below minimum requirements for some games already out).

8gb RAM and 1TB storage should be fine for most casual usage. You can add more RAM and add an M.2 SSD in the future as upgrades.

It's got a backlit keyboard and the screen's supposed to be fine as well - 1080p IPS.

I don't own an Optimus VIII, but someone posted a review of theirs with photos here: https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?53917-My-new-laptop-so-excited!
so you can see the keyboard and backlight
