A workstation for CAD and Photoshop

Hi All,

I am looking for a new PC for home working, I work as CAD technician / graphic designer so mainly use an industry GIS software, autocad and photoshop. I want to run a 40" 4k monitor and a 1080p 27" second monitor (portrait). I don't game, but would watch films on it.

This is my current work office set up, which I bought from PCS in 2015 and to be honest it still does everything I need very well for work.

In the new system these are the specs:

I just wanted to ask all you tech wizards, are any of these components massively overkill for what I need? I want a system that will be reliable and future proof for the next 5 years!

Just to explain: I've gone for 2 M2 drives, one is for OS and files, one is for Photoshop's scratch disk.

Many thanks for your help :)

For a little more mate we can really pump this build. This would be a much much stronger build with better balance, included a 500GB OS Drive, 2TB Storage M.2 and a 256GB SATA for a scratch disk

Also went for a more modern CPU which absolutely blows the 3800XT out of the water and a motherboard to suit. (I'd like to recommend the X570 TUF as the motherboard but it's out of stock right now). RAM that's a suitable speed for the CPU and double the amount. A Much stronger PSU to allow for upgrades and to let the build run cooler and quieter

A more suitable case for better airflow and a CPU cooler to keep the 5800x in check which can run really hot. Any questions fire away

Thank you very much Steve, I didn't know about the heat factor. I agree, much better balanced now. Looks like an extremely capable machine for not much more money than my original spec. Much appreciated! I am glad I asked for advice.
