About GPU upgrades

Hi was thinking of getting a vortex 3. I will get a 675m for now however is it definitely going to be possible to upgrade this to a 680m later? You know like I can send it back to you guys and you replace the gpu for me. Also any price estimates for this service are also helpful. Since I see an estimated release of September from another thread for the 680m I'm guessing your stock for this card should stabilise by around fall this year or maybe even early next year. I understand you not offering an upgrade option when its in high demand like the 7970m right now since it just ran out. But the upgradeability is very important otherwise I might as well just go get an MSI or something.

I've got a vortex 3 and there is no reason why you cant upgrade to a gtx680m as clevo have released bios 1.00.05 which adds support for the 680 so yh should be good. That is if you can get hold of a 680m or pcspecialist offer an upgrade.

Yeah I know that it should be possible what I want to know is whether PCS will offer it as a component only upgrade, where I don't have to source a 680m but they use their existing stock when it is available to upgrade my setup, of course I pay for the card no probs with that. And sourcing laptop gpus is troubsesome as far as I am aware. What I'm hoping is they will just say yeah you send it back to us, make the payment and we will have the 680m equipped beast back to you. Would feel much better if someone from the staff gave me some assurance.

We will be able to upgrade any Vortex III to a 680M. The price will be roughly £380 including VAT, our labour and delivery charges but excluding collection (if required). You will also be left with a 675M that you can sell on.

PCS dude I'll hold you to that. In fact I spoke to another reseller in the UK and what they had to say about it was that clevo usually delivers systems to them with the gpu already in it. If thats the case for you too then wouldn't you have to cannibalise the gpu from a chassis that then wouldn't have a gpu in it? Or is that not the case for your systems and your chassis and cards are separate? They then told me that at a later date a dell 680m could theoretically be put in if its compatible.

So with the above info you have stated what I'm assuming is clevo do in fact supply their own 680s serparate from the laptops?

We can buy the GPUs separately and we also have some chassis due into stock witout GPU. Therefore if you wanted you can buy a chassis and sell it on ebay as an "almost new" system.

Thats great to hear PCS I will be looking to place an order by first week July, maybe even before. And just out of curiosity are these upgrades available to p150HM users? While I was browsing notebookreview Sager seemed to provide some kind of upgrade kits or something of the sort to get 7970m to p150hm users, you guys planning something similar? I was kinda going to purchase that last vortex 2 lol but then since gpu is the problem with these kinda laptops hesitated, didn't want to take the risk.
