Hi folks,
I used to be into gaming PCs oooooh, about 25 years ago back when Half Life and Quake 3 were the cream of the crop. It's been a while.
I've just sold my PS5 and would like to join the gaming PC masses so I can play with my mates who made the move over too. Now, whilst I use to be able to build my own PCs back in my teenage years I now know almost nothing about what I need.
Ideally, I'd like a machine that can run pretty much any latest release at nearly highest settings. I'm mainly a FPS player and I already own an LG Ultra Gear GP950 4k monitor which I used on the PS5 and would ideally not like to have to upgrade unless I have to.
Here's the PC I just specced on the site. Any advice would be hugely appreciated. I'd love not to have to upgrade anything for a year or so, although I accept I don't know how quickly tech improves in the space any more so that might be wishful thinking.
Thanks in advance for any pointers/tips! Oh and one game I definitely want to play is Concord. Here are the recommended specs they posted recently as a benchmark for what I'd love to be able to run: https://x.com/PlayConcord/status/1810392214888952262

Here you are; slightly over budget (£34), but it is worthwhile in my opinion.

If you can't go above budget, you should consider a Radeon GPU (7900XTX), which excels at rasterization but struggles with NVIDIA technologies (DLSS, RT, FG).

Case
LIAN LI LANCOOL 215 GAMING CASE - Budget case with decent airflow; not the first choice, but necessary to keep prices down.
Processor (CPU)

AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D Eight Core CPU (4.2GHz-5.0GHz/104MB w/3D V-CACHE/AM5) - Best gaming CPU on the market.
Motherboard

ASUS® TUF GAMING B650-PLUS WIFI (AM5, DDR5, PCIe 4.0, Wi-Fi 6) - Solid MB, Prime boards are really a poor choice.
Memory (RAM)

32GB Corsair VENGEANCE DDR5 6000MHz (2 x 16GB) - Frequency sweetspot for AM5.
Graphics Card

16GB NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 4080 SUPER - HDMI, DP, LHR - High-end 4K GPU to handle your LG resolution.
Graphics Card Support Bracket

NONE (BRACKET INCLUDED AS STANDARD ON 4070 Ti / RX 7700 XT AND ABOVE)
1st M.2 SSD Drive
512GB SOLIDIGM P44 PRO GEN 4 M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD (up to 7000MB/sR, 4700MB/sW) - Fast OS boot drive.
1st M.2 SSD Drive

2TB SOLIDIGM P41+ GEN 4 M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD (up to 4125MB/sR, 3325MB/sW) - Main drive for games/programs.
Power Supply

CORSAIR 1200W RMx SHIFT SERIES™ MODULAR 80 PLUS GOLD, ULTRA QUIET - ATX 3.1, transient spikes protection, plenty for future GPU upgrades (unavoidable).
Power Cable

1 x 1.5 Metre UK Power Cable (Kettle Lead, 1.0mm Core)
Processor Cooling
CORSAIR ICUE LINK H115i RGB HIGH PERFORMANCE CPU COOLER - Premium 280mm AIO, better efficiency, less noisy, less cables and better overall quality than PCS ones.
Thermal Paste

STANDARD THERMAL PASTE FOR SUFFICIENT COOLING
Sound Card
ONBOARD 6 CHANNEL (5.1) HIGH DEF AUDIO (AS STANDARD)
Network Card
ONBOARD 2.5Gbe LAN PORT

This is awesome, thanks so much!

I could probably go a little over budget. Case wise, I don't want anything flashy, the more muted the better, but which would be a better option than the budget one you suggested, from a cooling point of view?

Thanks again, I really appreciate the guidance.

Just to add to this - great spec there from Ekans. When it comes to the "flashy" RGB and stuff, this can all be controlled by either software or unplugging the RGB cables from the motherboard.

5 years ago I bought a PC with ALL RGB everywhere, apparently having more RGB made your PC run faster back then HAHA!

I've since grown up and just switched all the RGB off except for my CPU Cooler which I have set to Temp Controls, green when chilled, yellow, orange and red for when it is time to pause the game and go and make a brew.

Seeing the RGB in the cases and put so many people off, but this can all be turned off.

How much over budget? :)
