Advantages of a 1080p screen?

I'm going for a laptop for general use really. You know, just Internet browsing, studying, playing music etc (and preferably simultaneously).

Now, Do I need 1080p for this sort of usage?

What will 1080p resolution give me? (btw, I'll be purchasing a 15.6 screen if that helps)

The higher the resolution, the better the image quality, especially for large image files and HD video.

Given the small cost of 1080P, I would recommend this on most laptops.
