Advice for video editing laptop

Hello everybody,

I am a French journalist and I would like to buy laptop at PC Specialist.

I want this laptop to be on Linux. I will have a professional and personal use. And I really need to be able to do video editing with this laptop.

So, before I buy it, I need your advice.

1) Which components should I chose ?
2) I have heard about Ubuntu Studio for video editing. Is it the best system for video editing ?

The budget is very restrictive for the uses you're asking of it, but this is the lowest I would go with good battery life in mind:

Second thoughts, I am ready to increase my budget to 2,000€.
According to you what would be the best configuration with this budget ?

For video editing it is only the software that is important, although Ubntu Studio will come with some pre-installed to save you searching for them. The area where Studio distros are really good is music production as they have low latency kernels.

I have not used Ubuntu Studio for at least a year but if t is still the same you will get a choice on install on what software to install, this is quite useful as you can choose the video stuff needed but do not have to download a load of unneeded software.
