My budet could go up to about £700, looking for gaming but wasn't sure what would be best, could you suggest improvements

Well, price wise I'd go AMD, as Intel are the more expensive. The spec below for instance is just short of your price range but as you can see has x6 cores - okay you won't use them all yet, but for futureproofing your machine this is a good idea.
