Advice Needed On This Spec

It has been almost 3 years since my last build from PC Specialist and with support for Windows 7 pro ending I thought it time for a new pc as I wish to keep this one going as it has several programmes on it that will not work on Windows 10.
I do a lot of 3d character modelling animation etc. so hope that this is the right combination of options. I compared it to my existing spec and upped the spec a bit.
I know it needs to be Intel based but that's about it, I know nothing about motherboards and Cooling.
I added a DVD/Blue Ray Drive as I sometimes get asked to create Wedding Videos.
So help would be very much appreciated before I click the order button.

Intel based because some software is geared towards Intel and certain features like global illumination is either not supported on amd or will not function as good. Max Budget was £5,000 I have gone over by about £300 so can cope with that will have to eat baked beans and not beef for a while:)
Software Autodesk Mudbox 2017 -Z Brush - Photoshop - 3dCoat - iClone 7 - Character Creator - Autodesk Max 2010 an older version that will not work on Windows 10 hence keeping my Windows 7 intact to use when needed. Plus a few video editing programmes

But that's surely relating to GPU not CPU?

So nVidia vs AMD

CPU doesn't affect visual encoding as far as I'm aware?

I did say that I needed help :D

I found this it may be a bit outdated but recommended requirements for iClone 7
Recommended Requirements
  • Intel i5 dual core CPU or higher
  • 8GB RAM or higher
  • 10GB free hard disk space or higher
  • Graphics Card: NVidia GeForce GTX 600 Series / AMD Radeon HD 7000 Series or higher
  • Video Memory: 2GB RAM or higher
  • Video card compatible with Pixel Shader 3.0 recommended for optimized visual performance
  • Display Resolution: 1920 x 1080 or higher
So that is why Intel also this pc is Intel based and have been happy with it.

So iclone is definitely CPU tollerant from both sides. I've never heard of any software not working with different manufacturer CPU's except when they're brand new and require BIOS tweaking but found this to verify AMD CPU's work fine:

It does suggest on their forum that it will work with nvidia GPU's better, so we'll stick with nvidia on the GPU.

Intel CPU's are dreadful in so many ways, AMD smash them all over the place and it's just a really bad idea to go with intel for the foreseeable future.

Is there anything inherently wrong with your current PC? Is there any reason you're swapping it out so soon?

As I said earlier Windows 7 support ending which this computer has. I did toy with the idea of shipping it back to pc specialists and getting a new os but then my Autodesk Max 2010 would not work so I am between the devil and the deep blue sea.

Hi spydertracks firstly thanks for your input appreciated.
After reading your suggestion did some research and the AMD Ryzen 9 3950X does get some good reviews some comments I noticed was temperature/heat so would the Corsair H115i PRO be ok to deal with this.
I see you did an option of 1st M.2 SSD Drive.
Now this is new to me I did see when I did a build it asks is this where the os would be installed (is this for only the os?)
I also opted for the 1st Storage Drive being a dumb user and not much knowledge on building I presume this is where all other software would be installed.
I also opted for a 2nd Storage Drive where I could save many video's pictures 3d models etc. Away for programme running drives.
Is this correct or am I confusing myself :)

M2 drive would be for OS and programs.

secondary drive would be for data storage.
H115i is really good on the 3950x, most reviewers have used that exact model with it and it performed admirably.

This is the spec that I ordered I do hope that I have not goofed anywhere.
I did go for a larger case for hopefully good airflow as the pc is in my conservatory most of the time.
Also I went down on the gpu as I thought 24GB maybe a bit OTT.
Took your advice SPYDERTRACKS and went for the AMD Ryzen.

I have always had a dedicated soundcard for some of the wedding video's I do and that is why I also had the DVD drive for creating the dvd's. Also a great love of music so pop in a disc and crank it up while out working in the garden:)
Was the rest of the spec ok?
