Advice on Docking station

Hi, I recently purchased a Fusion Pro IV from PC Specialists and am looking to plug it into a docking station to extend to my monitor (an old Dell 21" VGA) and to have additional USB ports etc (full laptop specs attached). I have a Dell WD15 docking station but its clearly not compatible with the laptop as nothing is happening!.
Am not sure that the Fusion Pro IV chassis supports USB-C for display?- so I may have to get a HDMI to VGA adapter?- which isn't the end of the world but i'd still like a dock to have additional USB ports, coupled with the neatness!.
Any suggestions?

Well, it has Type-C but whether that is capable of transmitting the appropriate signal is a different matter (Thunderbolt is only available on a handful of lapotps). I'm one of the last people to ask about laptop issues as I have very little knowledge about them. @SpyderTracks is a better person to offer advice
Sorry bud, thought you were the go to geek ref this 🙄

USB C doesn't carry video, it's only if it states that it's "thunderbolt 3" or "Display port over USB C" that it carries video.

So you'd either need a USB C dock just to add additional data ports like USB etc, but then to output video, you'd need to use the laptop HDMI port.

It's worth mentioning for others reading this thread that USB C is only a specification for a connector ecosystem, it just defines the physical and electrical requirements and says nothing about what signals will be carried. Those requirements depend on what's using the USB C connector; Thunderbolt for example is a set of communications protocols that use the USB C connector, whilst USB 3.2 is a different set of communication protocols that use the same USB C connector. Many other devices and protocols can and will use the standard USB C connector.

Thanks for all the help and advice guys!. OK so my Fusion Pro IV doesn't carry "thunderbolt 3" or "display port over USB C" which is annoying on a new and expensive laptop!. Also, it says its carry's "Power Delivery Via USB-C" which you guys believe it does not? - see attached.

I can live with a HDMI to VGA adapter for my Dell monitor but shouldn't the USB ports on my Dell WD15 docking station still work when connected via the USB C? - if they don't, how would I know that any USB C docking station will work at all? - i.e. something like the below?

Sorry about the big link!

Sorry if I’m missing something but the dell dock you posted is listed as a thunderbolt 3 dock in which case that won’t work as the fusion doesn’t have thunderbolt.

thunderbolt 3 has nothing to do with usb c other than it’s carried over it, but the two are exclusive technologies. If you plug thunderbolt into usb c it won’t work.

you would need a usb c usb hub, that’s all that would be able to carry over the usb c port.

My Dell D6000 has this on the USB-C wire, which means it can be used over normal USB.

I used to use a Kensington one like this which worked via USB.
