I have room to move up in the budget of what I’ve already spent (£1250). Just more whenever or not it would be worth it. I would look at upgrading that GPU (rtx 3070 or 3080) in a year or so would it be worth getting a better CPU now to make life easier?

Mainly gaming and the odd office work (my laptop dying is which has given me the push to finally get a pc)

Play many kinds of games, gamepass will probably get most of my use and halo next year will be a must.

currently have a 1080p 144hz AOC monitor which I’m quite happy with but would look at 1440p in the future.

Rather than going for a 3800X, a gaming system would be better off getting the brand new 5600X. The below spec would see you right for the next 7-10 years with the right upgrade path. I’ve put the 3060Ti in, which would be great for 1440p at 144Hz. If you’re planning on sticking with your current monitor you could change it out for the 2060 👍
