Advice on upgrading existing build...

Hi all

I purchased a wonderful gaming PC from this site approx 3-4 years ago and it has served me well over that time. I am however looking to upgrade without changing every single little detail.

My budget is approx £500 (provided I sell my PS4 to fund it). What would you change about my build below?

From what I have gathered, a GTX970 seems the best option - is this ok with my CPU/motherboard/RAM/PSU? Or would I need to upgrade any of these? I want to be able to play the new Batman & Witcher 3 @ 1080P 60FPS.

thanks in advance and it's good to be back!!!

Here are your options (in my opinion):
- Get a 980 (should just about fit into your budget
- Get a 970 and a SSD
- SLI 2x 960 4GB, which has the same power as a 980, but is about £100, however there are a few drawbacks with SLI

Thanks for the advice! My main worry was that I would need to update the CPU and power supply etc. Are they all still ok?

I would probably go with option 2 you have listed as a 980 seems a bit steep compared to the 970?

Your power supply should be fine :)

As for the CPU, a new one would give a boost, but not enough to make it worth while, the money is much better spent on a new graphics card

Thanks again! Any advice on the best SSD?

Samsung SSDs are good, I've got a 120GB 840 EVO in my laptop and a 250GB 840 EVO in my desktop, both have been fine since I got them. I think samsung are now selling the 850 EVO, which is just as good

Also the Kingston HyperX SSDs are good, but not the other ones they do :)

Great! Is it easy to install a new GPU and SSD?

Yeah, installing a GPU is a case of pushing it into a PCI-E slot and connecting the correct power cable.

The SSD is even easier, just connect the power cable and sata cable. Have a look on youtube to learn how to do it yourself if you're unsure :)
