Have you ordered this already? An AMD build would be much better, I would cancel the order and get some advice on an AMD build.

I've done a lot of research and it seems Intel is better still for Gaming as AMD and it still does well in Multi-threaded applications.

EDIT: At the end of the day, i looked extensively into AMD Vs Intel and it came out that for my needs, Intel was better for my £1500 budget (price to performance for gaming). If i was to create a super high end build, i would be going AMD 3900x

That's just inaccurate though. If you were getting performance ratings from places like cpubenchmark or userbenchmark, they're completely garbage numbers that heavily favour Intel based on zero real world testing, in fact they adjusted their metrics once benchmarks of AMD Ryzen 3000 were out and "happened" to adjust it so that Intel came out top in almost every comparison. It's been all over the papers, they're complete hacks and should be avoided at all costs. To call it disinformation would be a travesty, outright lies is more accurate.

The i7 doesn't have hyperthreading which means it's completely useless at multithreaded workloads. The ONLY Intel chip that's worth anything is the 9900k, and even then that's only for 1080p 240Hz gaming.

Whilst the i7 would be "better" in gaming, it's literally by a few fps and only at lower resolutions anyway, once you get to 1440p and above, the CPU has less impact as the GPU is producing most of the power.

For your uses, the 3800x would be just a whole different league of performance all round.
