"Amazon has agreed to buy the storied MGM studios for $8.45 billion, the companies said Wednesday, giving the US tech giant a vast content library to further its ambitions in streaming".

Certainly a bold statement from Amazon

My worry is that they'll focus on using the MGM back catalogue for Prime and not invest enough in new film projects. This is good for Amazon but is it good for MGM and film-making as an industry?

My worry is they'll not offer the content to Prime members for free, and just add it to the rental part.

That's also my pet hate with things like AppleTV+, Hulu, Roku, etc. - where they show all the possible TV shows/films together with no clear indication of what is included in your subscription and what isn't - and only when you click into it do you find out they want another £4.99/£9.99 to watch it.
