I've looked around on the internet and I've found some 32 GB RAM sticks (https://www.gskill.com/product/165/...DR4-3200MHz-CL16-18-18-38-1.35V256GB-(8x32GB)). On the GSkill website it says that their RAM is compatible with the AMD 3000 series and the X570 Motherboards. Can PC Specialist order 256 GB worth of RAM and use that as an option for my build? Needless to say I am willing to pay extra for this option.

Exactly what do you plan to use this monster for?!

Why do you need 256GB of RAM? What applications/services/VMs will you be supporting with this?

Why all that storage? What do you need 6TB of very fast SSD storage for? Why a single 6TB 'backup' drive to backup 70TB of storage.

Why two different graphics cards?

Can your home/office power supply handle that 1600W PSU? (Most domestic breakers will trip on startup of that PSU).

Be aware that the 3 year platinum warranty (the collect and return part) may be impacted by the the trade conditions between the UK and the EU after 31st December 2020 - there might be extra costs involved in returning it for example.

Hello Ubuysa,

I am working in IT and I work extensively with Databases (benchmarking, IoT input, etc.), so I intend to use a lot of RAM, CPU and other stuff. I also intend to use a lot of virtual machines to simulate workload stress and times on distributed database systems.

I have a colleague who plans on using my system to also make some 4K videos while I'm not running any extraneous processes from my databases. Those 2 GPUs are his recommendation. Is he wrong to use those? Are there compatibility issues?

As for 1600 Watts PSU I work with 220 Volts outlets. As far as I know most breakers can handle 1600 Watts coming from these types of outlets. Is there any way to know for sure?

Red Dead Redemption 2 will fill most of that 64tb of hard drive space so you probably want some more...

Plus you probably need some faster and bigger SSds...

Hello Ubuysa,

Have you done any benchmarks now to determine how much RAM and CPU your applications will actually need? When you're buying RAM and SSDs/HDDs in these quantities you need to be certain you're getting the best bang for your bucks and not simply over speccing just to be on the safe side.

I have a colleague who plans on using my system to also make some 4K videos while I'm not running any extraneous processes from my databases. Those 2 GPUs are his recommendation. Is he wrong to use those? Are there compatibility issues?

I'll leave others more knowledgeable on graphics cards to answer that. It just looks odd to me.

It's the instantaneous start current that typically trips domestic breakers. The constant current is fine, it's start-up that causes problems for some with 1000W plus PSUs.

I'm not sure about the games, lol. How about the first 2 changed to SSDs (4TB Samsung 860 QVO) and the others left as they are.

Based on my configuration is there a way to see what is the minimum PSU required to run the setup?

Phone them :) May need to ask the person to refer it on to a colleague and get back to you if the frontline staff can't confirm for sure

The forums aren't an official support/sales channel, they're almost entirely for the customer community to discuss things.

Let us know what they say, will be interesting to hear
