What is the cost of the listed build and what is your maximum budget? What monitor are you using...refresh rate, resolution etc? It will help to best determine things.

Thanks for the prompt reply.

The price stated in the quote is 1580 quid (which is way above my budget but what the hell, other spending will have to wait for a while😀😀)

The monitor I have just now is just a cheapo Acer 27'' ( appears to be a K272HL) , which I will look to upgrade in the future so any suggestions or recommendations on this would be great too (I'd like to stick to the 27''/ish size). I'm a bit of a technophobe so don't really know off hand the current refresh rate/resolution of this monitor but as I said any advice on what I should be looking to get in the future to best compliment the PC configuration (with or without any tweeks) if I go for it will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers!!!

As I said, unless I've done something weird.....like forgetting which topic I was posting in and which spec I was pricing up 🤣 My apologies for the confusion caused

Ah bugger, I thought I was getting a mega bargain there😁😀😁😀😁😀

Just been looking through the Forum and was having a read of the other Sections and found one on monitors. It say that the spec of my current monitor used to the the general benchmark but now I shoud be looking at - Quote - ''higher resolutions (1440p) and refresh rates (144hz) are easily doable for a ~£1000 computer. ''

Is this the level I should be targeting for a new screen.

PS I do fancy a curved one but I dunno if they have their own intrinsic advantages/disadvantages.

An RTX2070 is far overpowered for 1080p gaming.

Yes, the new standard would be 1440p 144Hz with FreeSync / Gsync, somewhere in the range of £300 upwards.

Curved are a bit of a gimmick but I understand the appeal, if you're interested in them, check out the MSI's, they do some amazing value screens with all the gubbins.

Thank you for that. Yeah, curved screens are a bit faddy I suppose but it's not 100% I'll go for one. I'm just a bit of a bugger for getting something into my head, going and getting it and worrying later😁😁. I'll have a look at the MSI ones, I think Currys do them so I can pop into a local store and physically have a look of them.

Cheers again👍

Yeah, that’s worth doing if you get the chance.

I haven’t actually seen a curved one firsthand so can’t comment from experience. I’ve heard it increases the immersion factor but usually there’s quite a significant price increase with curved, but MSI include good curves without inflating the price. seeing it firsthand would be great if they’ve got them in stock.

I have a Samsung 55'' curved Smart TV in the living room and it's fantastic albeit a few years old now so I'm used to viewing on that format but I'll wait and see what advice comes along, look at prices, value etc and what's gonna fit best with whatever PC build I eventually go with.

Cheers!!

Yeah, basically 1440p 144Hz GSync or GSync compatible would be optimum, but FreeSync at a push.

Been looking at the MSI OPTIX MAG 271CQR, which I could buy on here and seems to fit the bill for me. I may have to trim a bit off the build price tho as it's taking me well above my budget so will still be very interested to see if and where I could cut the cost a wee bit.

That build above isn't very good for gaming anyway, I5's are basically completely redundant now, even i7's are pretty useless.

What's you max budget for the full PC and the monitor included?

Well, initially it was about 1200 for the PC with some flexibility to go higher if needs be. I was going to leave the monitor till later but you have whetted my appetite 😁

I'm by no means a serious gamer but would like to have decent kit get the best out of some of the latest games. I've read tonight that an ADM system might be better for the MSI monitor. PC Specialists did quote me on an ADM system but they have deleted that quote as I told them the one and only ADM system I had was crap, probably faulty in hind sight but that was a long, long time ago. I'm not genned up on the current state of play with what's what with processors (or any other tech spec to be honest😯😁😁).

At a push I could stretch to an extra few hundred quid for a system and monitor and am open to suggestions and guidance 👌

So AMD have come a LONG way with CPU’s in the last year and their current processors beat Intel hands down for both value and performance.

Give me a sec and we’ll look at an AMD platform.

The other thing worth mentioning is if you've already got an old computer running windows 10, you can transfer the license from that to this one and save yourself a little over £100

Wow, thank you very much indeed. I'll have a proper in depth look at that tomorrow (been dragged to bed to watch Call the Midwife😁😁🙄) but that initially looks great.

Thank you so much for taking the time to do that for me. Brilliant 👍
