Any advice for a first time buyer?

Looking to get a good machine that is able to last for a long time and able to run high performance games /programs .
Here is my build so far!

A few questions here. First, what is your budget? Second, can you be a little more specific about what "high performance games/programs" you're thinking of? (e.g. video editing, Photoshop, audio editing...) Third, what monitor are/will you be using?

Finally, is there a specific reason you've chosen Intel? Everyone on this forum (and indeed pretty much everyone, full stop!) will recommend AMD right now; they're so far ahead it is almost funny.

Hey thanks, my budget is £1500 - £2000 or there abouts. When I said high performance games/programs I was just meaning some triple a games and anything a computer science student may be asked to do at uni. My monitor is an ASUS VG278Q. And as for why I chose intel it's just what I have always used and I didn't think AMD was such a competitor but thanks to a few threads and these comments I found that intel was prety outdated so I have tried to come up with a new build using an AMD with similar specs everywhere else. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Could probably lower the 980 to a 500gb and up the pcs to the corsair. Great build though
