Hi there, before we give advice on the build we’ll need to know some info. What’s your budget? And what’s your budget for the monitor? Also are you looking for 4K 60Hz or more than that? And will you be doing anything else on the PC other than gaming? Streaming, video editing for example?

Total budget maybe around 3k, looking for 4k with above 60hz if possible.

No plans to stream, but maybe in future.

Updated the build slightly.

You're looking ITRO £800 for a decent 4k 144hz display. They are also out of stock in a lot of places so you may end up paying over the MSRP to get one.
Even with a 3k budget to include a monitor is quite challenging while keeping the rest of the build balanced. I would be tempted to lean towards 1440p for now and get a killer system, that'll be ready to slap in a 4k card in a year or two when there is better availability for top-end GPUs and 4k gaming becomes a bit more mainstream.
Please could you include your configuration link so we can make adjustments more easily.

Added the link, I want a system that I will not be looking to upgrade again any time soon. Saying that maybe 1440 would be OK too, I don't know.

That monitor is retailing for over £1000 at the moment. So just wanted to clarify, is the 3k budget for the PC AND the monitor, or does the monitor have a separate budget? A 4k gaming PC for £2k isn't really feasible without compromising a lot of components, for £3k it absolutely is.

Also to note, with 4k gaming you basically need to upgrade your GPU every generation to keep playing the latest and greatest titles. GPUs are the most rapidly evolving component in a PC and this makes them near impossible to futureproof, especially with the top tier of gaming.

Can order the Predator on amazon for 800 (although not in stock). My build is around 2.2k & monitor cost

I will be genuinely impressed if you can get the monitor for £800 considering the current supply situation.

The Silencio case isn't great, cheaper 'quiet' cases sacrifice airflow for noise levels and cook your components. The 4000D is a much better pick.
Don't need the STRIX motherboard with the 5800x, the TUF will be adequate.
Rejigged your storage to have a 500GB 980 for your OS and programs, and a 1tb m.2 for your games library. This means that if you ever have to reinstall windows you won't have to reinstall all your games, and games don't have a benefit of loading from PCIE gen 4 over NVME SSDs.
Bumped up the PSU to 850W to give you some breathing room, and to support a GPU upgrade down the line. This build will last 7-10 years, you will need to upgrade the GPU a couple of times to keep playing the latest and greatest at 4K.
Improved the cooler to a newer model that runs cooler and quieter thanks to magnetic levitation fans.

Thank you.

Would this build be OK or overkill if I do decide to get a 1440p high refresh monitor?

Also what monitor would you suggest for 1440p gaming?

MrWilson

Godlike
For 1440p 240hz this build would be solid. For 1440p 144-170hz downgrading to the 3070 would be my recommendation.

I amended my order to change the graphics card to the TUF 6800xt as it seems to be reviewed much more favourably. I assume it will come manufacturer overclocked?
