Any major issues with this build?

Hi there, this rig seems to be about the perfect cost and power for me, I'm just wondering if anyone can spot any major issues with it before I go ahead. The compat checker when I made it said it was fine but I'd like a human opinion before I spend that much money! Thanks so much

Made mainly for newish FPS games - Battlefield, Battlefront, that kind of thing.

It doesn't look particularly good in certain areas (Case/RAM/Primary storage). The motherboard is a little up in the air now.

What is your budget and what monitor are you pairing the system with?

Do you have the link from the bottom of the spec you copied handy?

Can you please include the link to the configuration so that we can suggest changes without having to re-spec the whole thing up?

I would want a 256GB M.2 SSD for Windows/programs rather than that SATA SSD. You want Windows/programs on the fastest SSD you can afford, an M.2 NVMe if you can afford it.

@Scott beat me to the link bit. :giggle:

Well as far as case goes I really just want to go as cheap as possible, it's not something I care about. About £1000 is my max so looking to get the most bang for my buck here - want to maximise in game performance.

Here's the link Unique URL to re-configure: https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/saved-configurations/amd-am4-gen3-pc/nMdtqQhqSK/

I'm not sure the exact details of my monitor, it's a few years old, LG, 27" 1080p, nothing crazy fancy, I know that much.

Similar money but better balanced with a better base. The GPU is likely still over-specced for your monitor but it'll allow you to push the settings longer :)

Thanks for this!

Is there any particular need for that case over the cheapest one? If the components fit in the basic I'd rather save that £20 extra

My other question is on the GPU - the Tom's Hardware hierarchy I was looking at (don't know actually how reliable it is) puts this one quite a bit below the original I picked. I'm coming from a few years old laptop with a 1050 so I want a decent step up

The Focus-G is an excellent case for airflow. The case is as important as any other part of the build. I wouldn't recommend the lowest cases for any build, even cheap office systems, as they just aren't good for airflow. You want to allow your components to breathe properly.

With regards to the GPU, the 5700 is more powerful but you won't use the power of the 1660 Super, never mind the 5700, with the monitor that you have. Better to take the savings from the GPU to build a better base system overall. That way should you wish to upgrade in the future with a higher performance GPU and monitor, the rest of the system is already there to support it without having to change anything else.
