Hi,

Looking for thoughts on the below spec I am looking to get a pc that will be able to run the latest games at max settings and will hopefully last as long as my last computer, any thoughts on the below and if anything is not needed or could be changed? Been a while since I have looked at anything hardware related.

Budget up to £2400

Thanks

We love you Ukraine
What monitor are you pairing it with, what resolution and refresh rate or make and model if you're unsure?

What kinds of games do you play?

Is it just for gaming or streaming as well or anything else?

Hi,

Currently have an Asus monitor and an older monitor Asus monitor is 1920x1080 and 60 hz resolution, been a while since I have got new monitors so they are probably due an upgrade as well.

I play a wide mix of games from the witcher 3, battlefield, mmos, total war warhammer 2. Mainly getting this so that I can play cyberpunk 2077 when it comes out as my current PC is showing its age at 5 years old.

Will be mainly for gaming.

thanks

If you wish to stick with 1080p then that's a massive overspend. You need to consider what you want to play on. VERY rough figures below:

1080p 60hz+ - £1k for a top end premium build - Monitor cost £0 (already have it)
1440p 60hz+ - £1.5k for a top end premium build - Monitor cost ITRO £350 for a good one
4k 60hz+ - £2k for a good build - Monitor cost ITRO £700 for a good one.

If you fancy an upgrade you could easily get a high end 1440p PC and monitor well within your budget. You could just about squeeze a 4k system out of the budget too, including the monitor, but it wouldn't be the highest end.

Have a think about what you want from the system and we can help you configure ideal builds.

I think if went for 1440p monitors that would work. If I wanted to game in 4K that could be something I do later down the line.

Would also be fine with getting the desktop now and buying the monitors later

Thanks

This is a very high end 1440p gaming system. If you wanted to game at 4k, properly, in the future you would need a monitor (obviously) and probably a 2080Ti (To do it right). The 2070 will smash 1440p for a LONG time and allow you to dip your toe into 4k should you want to see what the fuss is about, again.... it needs a monitor.

It's a LOT of money to put into a system only to decide in a couple of months that you want 4k. You will have almost wasted the cost of a 2070 super and 1440p monitor if you end up replacing, be sure to spend wisely and only once... at least in the relative short time.

I'm not a monitor guy so I will leave that for others to recommend. There's a fantastic thread on monitors here though....

Which should give you some food for thought.
