Anyone able to help, worried about a christmas gift with an RTX 3070

So I ordered a system in november with a 3070, it has been in pre-production for 14 days now, and have tried to contact PC Specialist Via support section to just see how long orders like this take.
Just wondering if anyone would be able to provide any insight as this is a present for my sibling for christmas that I have been tasked with getting, as this is the only presesnt they are getting this year from his parents, will it be here for christmas I am concerned. Any insight at all would be great so I can let him know what's going on just incase he wakes up on christmas with nothing... I can assure him when to expect this. (He knows santa is'nt real he is 18).

(I am aware of the 3000 series high demand and low supply)

No-one knows really. But you might want to sew the seed of it not arriving in time for Christmas given how long other people have waited for other systems with orders placed before yours...

Based on other threads where people are waiting on a 3070 I think the chances of it arriving before Christmas are extremely slim. If Christmas delivery is essential you might want to call PCS (prepare for a long wait) and see whether you could change to a different GPU?

I directly quote this from someone posting in another thread:

"I rang them last week as I originally bought the 3070 on the 19th November. I rang up to see my order status and they suggest that if I was to change to the 3060ti I would in fact receive it before Christmas where the 3070 I wouldn’t. So I swapped. Currently waiting to come out of pre production"
That’s what they told me. But I really doubt changing the gpu at the current date would help unless it’s an old gpu and not one that has come out this year. Possibly new year delivery for the system

I am not really getting a straight answer from PCSpecialist and a call requires at least an hour wait for a Q of <10. Appreciate any thoughts

Thanks guys think we will wait it out till the new year I spoke with them they said it won’t be Christmas guaranteed but soon after, maybe after new year so all is well. He will have to keep being an intel graphics gamer till then lol.

in line with the above, i am also waiting on an AMD 5900 (as well as a RTX 3070). Does anyone know if the AMD is now available? I would bin the 3070 if they could then delivery before xmas but i am not sure if i have the confidence all the dots will be joined up and i would still have a no delivery. I guess my best option is to wait in Q for the one tele operator to answer the phone. BTW i did call last week and the guy was very upbeat on a Christmas delivery. Probably to stop orders being cancelled? I was not convince by the response.

I spoke to someone via live chat on Monday as I'm waiting for the 5900x, as of Monday i am 25th in a queue of 544 people.
I ordered on 23.10.20, he did say they weren't expecting stock this week or next so we were looking at Christmas week.
However with the way things are going they may not arrive then and it might be after Christmas/they may arrive before then..

I'm getting different stories from PCS each time I call/chat regarding 3070. I ordered the card on 29-Oct at 13:10 along with an upgraded PSU. I've contacted them at least 5 times about progress but it has never been made clear which component is holding up the shipment and they've been resistant to separating out the order so each can be shipped when available.

Hugely frustrating since I've seen posts from other folks who ordered after me and have the GPU. I've now ordered an alternative PSU from another supplier and asked PCS to ship the 3070 to me - now waiting to find out one is allocated to me as I was made to believe two days ago.

This sounds like a sit and wait game. I appreciate global supplies are low. However, I think we would all appreciate a more open approach to order status and for PCS to post consistent and more frequent updates. FYI i ordered my system on 24th so i will be sitting somewhere between 25 and 544 in the Q,. When ordering, nothing was flagged regarding difficulties to complete before xmas. Regarding live chat - anyone know of a good time to try it. I just keep getting ' no one available'

I get the same, I resorted to the tech support after waiting an hour on hold then for a live chat, on the my account page you can create a message and they relpy within 1 working day (ish), I have asked for like a sort of queue indicaton as I know they can't give me a delivery time as supply is just all over the place, but to know where I am in a queue for card is better than nothing so I can check back in a week or two.

I don't know about 3070/3080 etc but I do know that I ordered on 27th Nov using components in stock at the time (but no longer - 1660Super and B550 motherboard) and the PC is in testing today, which is a total of 10 working days - so - if your components are in stock they are rattling through the orders as 10 days is way less than the last 25 day average, and also that it does seem like where possible they do allocate stock when you order as I didn't have to make any changes.

Yeh, the 30 series and AMD 6000 series cards are in global supply shortage and therefore are pre-orders so we are pretty much in a Q for the GPU's as and when they come into stock unlike cards that have been out a while. I am just bummed cos I bought a 1440p 144hz monitor to pair with the system and and there is no PC to go with it when it comes to christmas day. There was no issues specified for christmas delivery upon placing my order on the 20th nov, oh how naive was I, only the RTX 3080 said christmas delivery not-garunteed still waiting to hear back about the Q situation and place from PCS. I am also worried about PSU shortages I ordered the TX650 M.

Also on the same boat for my son's "and my Xmas present ."
Its frustrating that pcs take money from account but do not give any time scale . I have emailed them but just got a response that they didn't know.
My pc build is over 3.4k so one would expect a level of service with that.
I asked if there is any changes i could make to speed up the process but was not given a reply on that just that they don't know when it will be ready .
I also amended my build to everything that has a green circle which hasn't made a difference so far.
I do understand they are busy but at the same time dont accept orders if they can not full fill them and take money from accounts .
"Rant over "
Good luck on getting your build
